Caesars Sportsbook Partners With Mets to Lead NY Sports Betting

Caesars Sportsbook has become an official NY sports betting partner of the New York Mets, according to a news release Wednesday.
The multi-year partnership between Caesars and the New York City-based professional baseball team includes a 13,000-square-foot upscale “sportsbook lounge” at Citi Field. The lounge will not include in-person NY sports betting but will allow space for sports fans to enjoy the Caesars Sportsbook app at the Metro Grille.
The announcement comes less than three months after NY online sports went live this January. The Empire State has become the largest state with sports betting in terms of monthly handles, outshining the previous leader of US sports betting, New Jersey.
Further Details
The multi-year partnership includes TV-visible, in-game signage, and content across the Mets digital media. In addition to the most sought-after loyalty program, Caesars Rewards, this agreement also includes plans to open a new sportsbook lounge at Citi Field during the 2022 Major League Baseball season.
The NY online sports betting fans will also enjoy the Caesars Sportsbook app on the Excelsior Level of Citi Field with a multi-tiered dining room, besides outdoor patio seating complete with panoramic views overlooking the left field, the release said.
The partnership makes the Mets the latest among the long list of professional sports teams with a sports betting partnership at their home stadiums.
Co-President of Caesars Digital Chris Holdren said they look forward to opening their space at Citi Field during a thrilling time for the franchise. He said New York is a key state for the company following the successful launch of its sportsbook app in January.
Holdren added that the Mets’ fanbase is one of the most loyal in the game, and the partnership will allow the sportsbook operator to treat those enthusiast fans like Caesars.
Caesars Maintains Second Spot in NY
Caesars has maintained its second spot in NY online sport betting market, thanks partly to its largest bonus offer. However, after a few weeks, the Nevada-based operator reduced its promo, bringing it somewhat closer to what FanDuel and DraftKings were offering.
So far, the New York-based FanDuel has been leading NY mobile sports betting, with Caesars clinging on to the second. But Caesars’s grip over the second spot has been slipping for eight weeks. The Boston-based DraftKings, which is third overall, has gained over Caesars’ handle lately.
Caesars has almost ended all of its traditional marketing except for a few ads to coincide with NCAA betting. It is yet to see if the Mets’ partnership helps the casino giant regain its market share from DraftKings.
MLB Key for NY Online Sports Betting
The launch of mobile NY sports betting was one of the biggest epochs since PASPA.
US sports betting has found a new leader in New York, which has set multiple sports betting records since its launch the mobile operations this January.
The launch came at an ideal time, coinciding with the expanded regular season. Those NFL betting opportunities allowed most US sports betting states to post new handle records.
The promotional credits traditionally dry up at the end of the NFL season, leading to shrinking betting handles in February and March. With the NBA and NHL playoffs around the corner, MLB betting is likely to take center stage in US sports betting.
The next few months, between March and September, are likely to bring reduced sports betting activity. It’s yet to see how things unfold with the online NY sports betting market during the months without football season.
