David Blaine Headed to Wynn Las Vegas After Resorts World Residency Ends

World famous illusionist and stuntman David Blaine has left his residency performance slot at Resorts World Las Vegas and switched to Wynn Las Vegas.

His previous show, In Spades, has run its course, and the magician will soon begin a 12-date run of his new show, Impossible, at Wynn’s Encore Theater. It will start on New Years Eve this year and run until Spring 2024.

The new performance space has a 1,500-seat capacity, which will mean significantly smaller crowds than the 4,000-plus audience capacity at Blaine’s previous Resorts World Theatre venue. It promises to be a more intimate show that will involve direct audience participation, which Blaine calls “Interactive Magic.” Hence the Impossible name of the show.

“I’ve spent my life building my magic by traveling around the globe discovering some of the world’s most carefully guarded secrets, being inspired by the great magicians who came before me, and building on their legacy to show that even the impossible is possible,” Blaine said in announcing the show.

“I am thrilled to be unveiling ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ at the premiere venue in Las Vegas, the Encore Theater.”

Great Spot for a Magic Show

Residency performer spots are big business for Nevada and Las Vegas casinos. Competition can be tight for slots, and many of the world’s biggest stars come and go through the city.

Despite arranging his last residency at Resorts World, which ended in cancellation of its last two nights after he dislocated his shoulder on stage, Blaine has apparently always had a soft spot for the Wynn.

Blaine apparently almost personally negotiated a long-rumored residency with the now disgraced Wynn Resorts founder and former CEO Steve Wynn in the late 2010s. But the plan never materialized.

Now the performer will finally be getting to grace the stage at one of his favorite Las Vegas hotels.

Blaine recently did an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal in which he outlined the concept of the new show.

“I’m so happy it’s finally come together, because we’ve been wanting to do this forever,” he said. “This is the perfect room, a great spot for a magic show. I’ve always loved staying at the Wynn. When I get my breakfast at Tableau or Jardin, my show will be right there.”

Audience Interaction Promised

During the short interview, the magician promised an intimate experience at the smaller venue.

“Everybody has cards and gets to interact back and forth with me,” he said.

“There’s going to be a lot of weaving of the stories that actually explain the process that went into many of these things that are not tricks, that are real, that are very dangerous.”

Those dangerous tricks are apparently set to include being a human pincushion and swallowing an audience member’s ring. Plus, the magician turning his stomach into an aquarium. Whatever that may entail.

“While David has long been celebrated for his larger-than-life stunts, fans will now have an opportunity to experience David in an intimate setting where his magic can be seen up close and personal — just as it was when he began his career with that in-your-face street magic,” said Bobby Reynolds, SVP, AEG Presents Las Vegas.

“We’re thrilled to welcome David Blaine to the Encore Theater stage at Wynn Las Vegas.”

Tickets for the show will be $70 for standard seating. As-yet unpriced VIP experiences packages will also be available, which will include premium seating, a photo opportunity with Blaine, and commemorative gifts.

Wynn Las Vegas is an award-winning casino resort destination on the Las Vegas Strip. As well as David Blaine’s magic show, 2024 should also see it debut its new station on the Elon Musk-backed Las Vegas Loop underground transit tunnel.
