Mega Millions Results For Friday; Jackpot Worth $256M

As there was no winner of the $256 million Mega Million jackpot Friday, the drawing on Tuesday, Aug. 24, will be worth $270 million with a cash option of $196.7 million.

According to the Mega Millions website, two players won at least $1 million on Friday’s lottery drawing that jumped to $256 million with a cash option of $185.6 million.

The Mega Millions numbers for Aug. 20 were: 41, 43, 51, 57, and 70. The Mega Ball was 1, with a Megaplier of 2x.

Mega Million Winners for Aug. 20

Though there was no grand prize winner on Aug. 20, two players won $1 million each after matching all five white numbers. Those tickets were sold in Virginia and Rhode Island.

The Rhode Islander, who also played the Megaplier option, managed to swell the winnings to $2 million.

One ticket in Michigan sold won $1,000, which was the largest prize in the drawing won across the state.

As many as 276,487 tickets that were sold won at least $4 in the drawing. In the Wolverine State – the other name for Michigan – 11,680 tickets sold won at least $4 in the drawing.

Tuesday’s Winning Numbers

No one across the nation hit Tuesday’s $242 million jackpot. A second-prize, $1 million ticket, which matched five numbers but not the Megaplier, was bought in New Hampshire. A third-prize, $10,000 ticket was also sold for Tuesday’s drawing, which matched four numbers and the Mega Ball.

Winning numbers for Tuesday were: 3, 6, 16, 38, and 56. The Mega Ball drawn was 24 with a Megaplier of 3x.

What Do We Know About Mega Millions?

Mega Millions – which began in 1996 as The Big Game – is an American multi-jurisdictional lottery game. It’s played in 44 states, in addition to Washington DC and the Virgin Islands. Each ticket costs $2.

The first drawing began in Sept. 1996, with six states – Virginia, Michigan, Massachusetts, Maryland, Illinois, and Georgia – participating.

Mega Millions drawings take place Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. In the game, five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70, and The Mega Ball from 1 through 25.

The chances of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is 1 in 302 million.

The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is $40 million, which increases when there’s no top-prize winner.

Largest Mega Millions Jackpot Won in 2021

According to the site, the largest Mega Millions jackpot in 2021 was won in March when a ticket matched all six balls to claim $1.05 billion – the third-largest jackpot in US lottery history.

The winning ticket was sold in Michigan, near Detroit, and the winner could also choose the $739.6 million cash option. It was the 18th time the Mega Millions jackpot was won in the Wolverine State.

The winning numbers drawn on the largest Mega Millions jackpot this year’s January were: 4- 26- 42- 50- 60 and Megaball 24. The Megaplier was 2x.

If you have bought a ticket, it’s advisable to check your tickets immediately, as whatever the odds are, you have an equal chance to hit the jackpot.

In 2019, a winning ticket worth $1 million sold in Hartland went unclaimed as the winner never turned up to claim it. Eventually, the money went to the state’s school aid fund.
