Best Sports Betting Promotions in Mississippi

Mississippi online sportsbooks offer a range of interesting betting bonuses for players.

Risk-Free Bets

With a risk-free bet, you receive money back if your wager loses. At BetUS, it’s called a ‘No-Lose Bet’. You can claim up to $500 in free bet credits if your initial wager doesn’t come in.

Deposit Match

A deposit bonus is a great way to earn matched funds. The Mississippi sportsbook will match a percentage of your initial deposit with bonus cash. You can release bonus funds and winnings as long as you clear the rollover conditions.

For example, BetUS offers a 100% deposit match bonus of up to $2,500. If you deposit the full amount, the site will give you an extra $2,500 in bonus cash. You must clear the entire $5,000 by betting on eligible sports markets at the minimum required odds.

Odds Boosts

Odds boosts are enhanced prices on a selection of betting markets. Oftentimes, price boosts are reserved for the most popular odds-on markets. However, it’s still possible to find value.

For example, the regular odds for the Atlanta Braves to win the World Series are +500. With BetOnine’s Odds Boosters, you will get enhanced odds of +800 on the Major League Baseball showdown.

Parlay Insurance

Parlay insurance offers money back if one bet of your multi-leg wager loses. The refund is normally paid out as a free bet into your gambling account.

Referral Bonus

A referral bonus rewards you if you attract new customers to the sportsbook. For example, BetUS doles out a 100% Refer A Friend Bonus worth up to $2,000. You and a friend both receive the bonus once they have signed up, made a deposit, and placed a qualifying bet.

Legal Online Sports Betting in Mississippi

Mississippi was one of the earliest states to legalize sports betting back in 2018, three months after the Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA).

There are some restrictions, but you can now legally bet on professional and college sports within The Magnolia State. Currently, online casinos and poker are not regulated under Mississippi gambling laws.

Under Mississippi’s own sports betting legislation, you must place bets in person via regulated betting sites at land-based casinos. However, you can still access offshore sportsbooks from anywhere in the state.

Mississippi, Third State to Legalize Sports Betting

Mississippi was the third state to legalize sports betting after the Supreme Court effectively ended the ban on sports wagering in 2018. The Magnolia State was also the first state in the post-PASPA era to offer betting on in-state college games.

Mississippi initially regulated sports betting in 2017 to help facilitate gambling on Daily Fantasy Sports. State lawmakers quietly removed language banning betting on sports if the federal law was ever lifted.

House Speaker, Philip Gunn, who expressed his opposition to legal sports betting, said he was caught unaware that the Fantasy Sports Bill, HB 967 would effectively lead to regulated sportsbooks in Mississippi.

The regulated mobile betting industry has been restricted to retail sportsbooks at licensed casinos. Electronic sports betting is also allowed if you’re physically located at casino properties. Gold Strike Casino in Tunica and Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi were the first to accept the first sports bets.

Latest Efforts to Legalize Mobile Wagering in Mississippi

Mississippi lawmakers are renewing their efforts to expand the regulation of online sports betting in the state. Five previous efforts for legal Mississippi betting sites have so far failed.

The sixth effort – House Bill 606 – has recently cleared the Mississippi House 140-4 and is now awaiting approval in the Senate. HB 606 seeks to “change section 97-33-1 of the Mississippi Code from 1972 to allow bettors to place wagers on sporting events using the internet.”

The proposal calls for 28 Mississippi casinos to have one mobile skin each to allow statewide online sports betting. Rep. Casey Eure, the Chair of the House Gaming Committee, is responsible for the latest MS online sports betting bill.

After the House Appropriation Committee’s amendments, the bill would create an 11-member task force. The committee’s report is due in October 2023 and will include recommendations on sports betting fees and tax structures.

Legal Mississippi Online Sports Betting Not Coming in 2023

Four Mississippi sports betting bills in 2022 died in committee after intense opposition from brick ‘n mortar casinos. Rep. Eure’s HB 606 is one of the three sports betting bills proposed in the House in 2023. He believes that the latest effort could finally reach the finishing lines.

As you know, for the last many years, we’ve been working on a mobile sports betting bill, and at this time, we felt it was the proper thing to pit the task force together, then hopefully come next year and have a good mobile sports betting bill that this House can pass,” Eure said in February 2023.

Who Regulates Online Sports Betting in Mississippi?

The Mississippi Gaming Commission regulates online sports betting in the state. It issues licenses to every land-based casino in Mississippi that runs a legal sportsbook.

What is the Minimum Age for Online Sports Betting?

The minimum legal age to place a bet on casino grounds in Mississippi is 21. However, the top offshore betting sites accept US bettors aged 18 or over and allow them to place mobile wagers on professional and college sports.

Why Play at an Offshore Sportsbook?

Mississippi sportsbooks are legal, but there are still limitations to what you can do. Here are some advantages to betting via offshore sports betting sites in the state:

  • Mississippi doesn’t offer regulated statewide mobile betting sites, and the first legal sites may not appear until 2024. For now, offshore sportsbooks are your best bet for placing wagers from anywhere in the state.
  • Offshore betting sites may offer more attractive welcome bonuses than MS-regulated sportsbooks. In addition, you can claim exclusive cryptocurrency bonuses to use for betting on sports online.
  • Offshore sportsbooks tend to accept cryptocurrencies as a valid payment option. You can fund your account with Bitcoin, Litecoin, or your favorite digital currency. Transactions are quick and free, and you can typically deposit a lot more than if you use a credit card.

Sports Wagers in Mississippi

Let’s look at some of the most popular sportsbook wagers for Mississippi players. Make bets online on single games or combine your favorite markets into one parlay – the choice is yours!

Moneyline

A moneyline is a wager on the outcome of a game or event. You can bet on just one game or make multiple moneyline wagers across several games. The moneyline bet may be on the winning team or player.

Parlays

A parlay bet combines multiple moneyline wagers in one. Each leg of your parlay must come good for the bet to win. The more legs your parlay has, the greater the odds.

You may also claim parlay insurance at many online sportsbooks. The betting sites will refund you your entire stake if one leg of your parlay fails.

Totals

With totals betting, you place a wager that the number of goals or points in a game will be over or under the sportsbook’s mark.

For example, in an NFL match, your Mississippi sportsbook may determine the Over/Under on total points at 52 for the Saints vs. Eagles game. You win on the Over bet if the game ends 35-24 with a total of 59 points.

Points Spread

A points spread is a handicap bet based on each team’s total points. The underdog is awarded a points headstart at the start of the game. Conversely, the favorite is given a points handicap. You now bet on either team to “win” the game based on the new points adjustment.

For example, the Saints are favorites and are given a -7.5-point handicap by the sportsbook. The Eagles are underdogs and receive a +7.5-point advantage before a ball has been kicked. The Saints must cover the spread (score more points than the Eagles with their handicap taken into account) for you to win the bet.

Futures

A futures bet is a wager on an event taking place weeks or months away. You can usually find betting markets on major events, such as the Super Bowl or World Cup. In addition, sportsbooks offer more competitive odds the further you are away from the tournament.

Prop Bets

A prop, or proposition, bet is a wager on events taking place within a single game. Oftentimes, they have little to do with the outcome of the match.

For example, you may bet on the first NBA team to reach 20 points in the game or the first NFL side to score the first touchdown.

Most sportsbooks also offer player props. These are special bets on individual player performances or match-ups between competing stars.

Live Bets

With in-play betting, you can wager on live games as they happen. Follow the action on TV or track the game via the sportsbook graphic visualizer as you place bets. You may also cash out live bets before they settle.

Prohibited Bets

There is some prohibited sports betting at regulated Mississippi sites. Gambling on politics is banned, for example.

However, you can gamble on a full range of markets at our top offshore sportsbooks in Mississippi. Bet on the winner of the next primaries, or the race to the White House itself.

Betting Online on Football in Mississippi

Football is very popular in Mississippi, even though the state has no home-based NFL team. State residents are big fans of college football.

The Ole Miss Rebels represent the University of Mississippi and are one of the most popular teams in the state. The Mississippi State Bulldogs are the other college football team that competes in NCAA Division I.

Those Mississippi fans looking to bet on their favorite college football teams should try Bovada. This top college football betting site offers excellent odds on every NCAA football action.

NFL

Although no home-based NFL franchise exists in The Magnolia State, fans can cheer the New Orleans Saints in neighboring Louisiana.

Bovada covers the entire NFL if you want to bet on sports. The sportsbook offers moneyline, totals, and spreads on all games. You can also bet futures on the next Super Bowl winner or cash out early on in-play markets.

NBA

Mississippi may have no professional NBA team but basketball fans in The Magnolia State still love following “local” outfits, such as the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans.

BetOnline is our go-to online sportsbook for betting on the Pelicans or any of your favorite NBA franchises. The sports wagering site offers the latest odds and line on live games, plus a substantial sign-up bonus. We found more specialist NBA betting offers at BetOnline than most other US-facing sportsbooks.

MLB

As a Mississippi bettor, you can gamble on any of the 30 MLB teams during the week. Bet the moneyline, run line, or totals or bet in-play while you watch the game. Alternatively, discover the best odds on the World Series or bet the player props for the entire season.

NHL

As a Mississippi hockey fan, you have a wide array of NHL bet types to choose from at our top three offshore sites. BetUS is again one of the top NHL betting sites. It offers simple lines on the night’s games and big value on the next Stanley Cup.

As a new or experienced Mississippi gambler, you can access NHL betting odds on the moneyline, puck line, or total points. Check out the NHL welcome bonus at BetUS too where you can earn 100% up to $2,500 when you make a first deposit.

MLS

You can bet on all Major League Soccer games at Mississippi sportsbooks while you enjoy the best action involving the New York Red Bulls or your favorite franchise.

Bovada runs an excellent variety of MLS betting options. The site currently offers point spread, moneyline, and totals markets alongside live betting as the match happens. You can also bet on first goalscorer, correct score, and a host of team props.

NCAAB

National Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball (NCAAB), or college basketball, is one of the most popular betting events in Mississippi. The 2023 men’s NCAA tournament for March Madness kicks off March 14, with the First Four games in Dayton, Ohio.

BetOnline, one of the best March Madness betting sites, will cover the entire event through to the 2023 Final Four in Houston. Bet the moneyline, go for total points, or find props on your favorite college players.

CFL

Mississippi football fans can also bet on the Canadian Football League (CFL). It’s the most prestigious level of football competition in Canada.

Look no further than Bovada if you’re looking for the best CFL betting site in Mississippi. The sportsbook offers a tonne of CFL gambling options, including moneyline, points spread, and Grey Cup futures.

WNBA

Mississippi bettors can also bet on the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Founded in 1996, the association consists of 12 teams. BetOnline covers wagering on every game of the regular season.

Besides the playoffs, Mississippi bettors will find early odds on the WNBA Draft and big-time matchups. In addition, BetOnline updates odds faster than any competitor site.

Horse Race Betting in Mississippi

Mississippi allows horse race betting (pari-mutuel wagering) at brick ‘n mortar casinos. However, there are no licensed racetracks or off-track wagering facilities.

The Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi was the first licensed casino in Mississippi to accept horse race betting in 2019. However, The Magnolia State has no racetracks, and the law does not allow online horse racing betting.

Mississippi horse racing fans can still post online wagers on favorite horse racing events, such as the Kentucky Derby. Luckily, all our top three offshore betting sites also serve as full-fledged online racebooks.

Politics Betting in Mississippi

Thanks to the top Mississippi sports betting sites, you can also participate in election wagering. Bovada is our top recommendation if you are looking to bet on the next presidential results.

Bovada currently offers the best betting lines on the 2024 US election. You can browse futures markets on Republican hopefuls, many months before the primaries begin.

Popular Mississippi Sports Teams You Can Bet on

Although Mississippi is not home to any major professional leagues, the residents have plenty of professional and college teams to bet on.

  • New Orleans Saints (football)
  • New Orleans Pelicans (basketball)
  • Memphis Grizzlies (basketball)
  • Nashville Predators (hockey)

New Mississippi Online Sportsbooks

XBet is one of the recent additions to our list of the top mobile sportsbooks in Mississippi. It was established in 2013 and has developed a reputation for unique betting lines such as religion and weather.

MyBookie is another new mobile sportsbook in The Magnolia State. This Curacao-licensed site is ideal for experienced Mississippi bettors due to its big-money prize predictions contests.

What to Look for When Choosing the Best Mississippi Betting Site?

You must consider the following points when choosing the best Mississippi betting site:

Reviews: Always do some research before joining any MS online sportsbook. LetsGambleUSA offers independent reviews of all the major offshore sites operating in Mississippi. We only rate and recommend sportsbooks that pass our stringent criteria.

Licensing Information: Always join a licensed sportsbook operator for secure online wagering in Mississippi. Even offshore sports betting sites must possess a valid igaming license in order to operate.

Promotions: Look out for generous welcome bonuses with fair and realistic wagering requirements. In addition, sites such as BetUS and BetOnline run regular promotions and VIP schemes for loyal customers.

Accessibility: Always ensure that the Mississippi site you want to join is accessible 24/7. All our top three offshore sites are 100% mobile-friendly, allowing you to place mobile bets from the comfort of your home or anywhere in the state.

Bets Allowed: Our top offshore sites offer all major bet types, such as moneyline, parlays, props, futures, totals, and spreads. You can also bet in-play and claim enhanced odds on the biggest games.
