888 was one of 13 online gaming sites to begin operations in New Jersey in 2013 as part of a synchronized launch. In fact, 888 has online operations in all of the currently regulated states in the US including Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Under NJ gaming legislation, 888 was required to partner up with an existing land-based operator. 888 Holdings made a major push into the regulated US market by forging an agreement with Caesars Interactive. 888 and Caesars have a similar partnership for legal online poker in Nevada.
888 US Online Casino Review
888casino was one of the first online gambling sites to open in the newly-regulated NJ market.
The online casino is a tie-in with the Caesars Interactive behemoth. It is licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (Permit Number NJIGP 14-007).
With the backing of Caesars, NJ players can expect cutting-edge software, a solid range of games, and reliable payments every time. But does the reality match the expectations? Let’s delve a little deeper into 888casino.
888casino welcome bonus
888 runs several ongoing welcome bonuses for new players. Make sure you select the right one, as the promotions page tends to focus as heavily on 888sport and 888poker bonuses as it does on casino ones.
There are two welcome bonuses — a no deposit bonus with free cash and a standard deposit match offer.
No deposit bonus: When you create your 888casino account, you will receive $20 in your account with which to play. Free cash play is fairly open and can be used on online casino games, online poker, or online slots.
However, dig a little deeper and there are some notable restrictions. $10 of the bonus is earmarked as ‘FreePlay’ for specific casino games and top slots (around 13 slots, plus American Roulette and Classic Blackjack) while another $4 can be used as pure cash. Finally, you will receive 6 x $1 poker tournament tickets — not ideal if you signed up with the intention of only playing casino games.
Furthermore, FreePlay money and tournament tickets must be used within 7 days of signing up. Wagering requirements also apply to any money you win. In other words, to clear your bonus money, you will need to wager it in the casino 30 times.
Deposit match: 888 runs a regular deposit match offer for new sign-ups. Make two initial deposits of up to $1,000 each and 888casino will match them at 50%. While the deal allows for two separate deposits, the 50% match is less than that offered by many rival NJ casinos.
You will need to wager your deposit match money 30 times in order to claim any bonus cash. Luckily, all video slots contribute 100% toward your match bonus, which is slightly better than some other NJ casino sites. Roulette and poker table games contribute 20%, and blackjack and video poker contribute 10%.
Who can play at 888casino?
888 is available to gamblers in the US 21 years of age or older with a valid email address. Pursuant to successful registration, players must be physically located within NJ borders before they will be permitted to log in and play.
Geo-location problems are largely a thing of the past but still exist in patches. If you live on the NJ/NY border, for example, you still may have problems getting past 888’s GeoComply software.
888 uses plug-ins to help verify your location. When you play a real money casino game for the first time, you will be required to install a plug-in that will detect your Wi-Fi network location and ensure you are not using any kind of remote desktop program.
888casino browser-based software
Browser-based software is the name of the game at 888casino, and, as at 888’s overseas online sites, the platform is powered by in-house developer Dragonfish.
Whether you favor PC or Mac, you can access the client via a standard web browser. We found updating Google Chrome was a smart move to avoid any issues. While 888’s software is compatible with Firefox, we advise sticking with the tried-and-trusted Chrome 25 or above. Unfortunately, we also found that 888’s plug-ins struggled to cope with Internet Explorer.
If you have come across 888’s overseas gambling sites, you will recognize the NJ platform. In fact, the lobby and functionality are virtually identical. In-depth information and help are easily available, and the casino has some of the most user-friendly navigation we have seen in New Jersey.
888casino App Review
You can access your 888 account anywhere in New Jersey via Apple or Android devices. Apple users can download the 888casino app directly from the Apple App Store, using their existing password and username.
Android customers also have a downloadable app. It’s available from the 888casino website, but we found that anything lower than v4.4 KitKat is insufficient to run the app.
Functionality is good, and mobile players have access to approximately half the games available on the desktop version. Most of the top titles from NetEnt and Scientific Games can be played via smartphone for real money, and players are also provided with access to Demo Play games.
Games at 888
888 has over 300 slots and table games from major developers like IGT, NetEnt, and Scientific Games, and most games can be played for free before you commit a bankroll.
888’s online casino software could do with some better filters but the lobby is easy to navigate, and thankfully, games can be sorted by developer.
Online slots 888 has an impressive selection of online slots for an NJ casino, with over 200 video slots and classic slots from NetEnt, IGT, and Scientific Games. All of the major players are covered, and most slots are available on mobile devices as well.
You can choose from popular NetEnt slots like Starburst, Asgardian Stones, and Guns N Roses, or head straight for the big IGT titles like Cleopatra Plus and Pixies of the Forest. New games are constantly being added, so it’s reasonable to expect the lobby to grow over time.
Progressive slots tend to get lost in the 888 lobby, but there are more than a dozen jackpot games to try. Irish Riches and Pirates Millions are well known in the US, but 888’s own Millionaire Genie is a reliable feature at Dragonfish-powered online casinos overseas.
Video poker There are about half a dozen video poker variants at 888, all provided by IGT. Jacks or Better, All American Double Up, and Double Bonus Poker can be played on desktop or mobile.
Online blackjack Overall, 888casino scores low on table games, offering only three versions of blackjack — Classic Blackjack, American Blackjack, or NetEnt’s Blackjack Classic. On the bright side, you can play all variants for free and real cash via your smartphone.
Despite the dearth of roulette variations at 888, a meager five, you can still download the software on your mobile phone. Furthermore, 888 has a dedicated ‘Our Roulette’ app which works on iOS devices and contains all variants in one place.
For desktop users, you can take your pick of French Roulette, American Roulette, or European Roulette, and you have the option of choosing ‘private’ or ‘public’ tables for varied gameplay. Public tables allow you to bet alongside up to three players at the same time and most games are available as ‘High Limit’ too.
888casino has a full range of live dealer games that are relatively new to the lobby, some added as recently as 2018. The lobby features games like Live American Roulette, Live Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and Live Baccarat, all of which are only available in real money mode.
The big draw of 888’s live dealer output is that it is provided by Evolution Gaming, one of the industry leaders.
There are nine live dealer variants in the 888casino Live Lounge. Games can be played on a web browser, Android, or iOS:
- Live Three Card Poker
- Live American Roulette
- Live Baccarat
- Live Blackjack
- Live No Commission Baccarat
- Live Ultimate Texas Hold’em
- Live Dream Catcher
- Live Casino Hold’em
- Live Caribbean Stud Poker
VIP program and cashback at 888casino
888 operates a basic VIP program for loyal customers who may earn Status Points by playing games (1 Status Point for every $10 wagered). Every 100 Status Points collected can be redeemed for $1 in cash, a rather poor conversion when compared to some other NJ online casinos, though not entirely unusual.
Regular promotions run throughout the year at 888casino NJ, and many deals include some sort of FreePlay offer. Players are encouraged to sit down at slots or table games with a set amount of FreePlay cash, but there is usually a required initial deposit. In addition, wagering requirements apply to daily and weekly offers.
Deposit options at 888 online casino
888 NJ customers can make secure deposits via one of seven methods, including bank transfers, credit card, and e-Wallet. Rest assured, the site uses SSL encryption to protect players’ funds.
VISA and MasterCard transactions are accepted at 888casino. Although single deposit limits are fairly low at $600, you can deposit as little as $10. Bear in mind, you will incur cash advance fees from your credit card provider when you load up.
Unfortunately, there is still a percentage of declined card payments in the range of 20-30%, and as expected, VISA and MasterCard cannot be used to make withdrawals from your 888 account.
If you want to load your account in person, you can deposit cash at the Caesars Atlantic City Cage. While there, you can even make withdrawals. Alternatively, use a PayNearMe prepaid card at any 7-Eleven in New Jersey. Watch out for the fees, however, which can be as high as $5.99.
We recommend using an e-Wallet if you live in New Jersey. PayPal has a much higher success rate for deposits and minimum deposits are low as well, around the $10 mark.
Sadly, while 888casino NJ does not apply fees to e-Wallet deposits, the provider will. In NJ, expect a fee of 2.9%+$0.30 of the total amount if you use PayPal.
Withdrawal options at 888
Currently, there are only three deposit methods at 888 that can be used for withdrawals. A bank transfer is the most secure and convenient method to use, while PayPal is instant and offers the best success rate in terms of acceptance.
Finally, you can cash out funds directly from the Caesars Atlantic City Cage if you live near the city.
Customer support at 888casino
The customer support team at 888 is both prompt and helpful. When we tested the service, email queries were answered within 24 hours, and the toll-free phone line (1-855-218-6234) was friendly and knowledgeable. 888casino still lacks a live chat option, however.
- Email: On-site form
- Phone: 1-855-218-6234 (toll free)
- Live chat: n/a
888casino Final Thoughts
Despite the reputations of both operators, 888/Caesars still lags behind rivals like Borgata/partyNJ and Golden Nugget/Betfair in terms of revenue. But for online players in New Jersey, 888casino is still one of the most trusted and secure operators available.
888 US Sportsbook Review
888 Sport is an online sportsbook that’s available to residents and visitors of New Jersey. It maintains its license with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJ DGE) under permit number NJ IGP 13-006.
This site’s parent company, 888 Holdings, is one of the most recognized names in the sports gambling industry, featured in a number of online markets throughout the world.
That said, 888 Sport definitely has a strong brand behind it. But what else do they have to offer?
We’ll discuss how they stack up to the New Jersey competition in terms of bonuses, loyalty rewards, bet types, markets, and more.
888 Sport NJ bonus
This bookmaker offers a two-part welcome package that consists of a no-deposit bonus and a deposit bonus. 888’s welcome deal is one of the better offers in the NJ market.
888 Sport no-deposit bonus
Players receive a $10 no-deposit bonus after successfully registering for an account at the 888 NJ sportsbook.
After registering, you will receive an email with instructions for claiming your bonus. Once you have claimed the bonus, you will need to meet 6x rollover within five days.
In other words, you must wager $60 (6 x $10) within five days to cash out the funds. All bets must be placed at -200 odds or higher. Any wager made below these odds will not apply toward qualifying for the deal.
Your first deposit at 888 Sport is eligible for a 100% match bonus worth up to $500. A $10 minimum deposit is required to participate in this promotion.
You must meet 6x rollover within 30 days of depositing. Your bets must be placed at -200 odds or higher until rollover is satisfied.
Parlays are eligible for meeting rollover. However, each team/outcome in the parlay must have a minimum of -200 odds.
Are any promotions available at 888?
This betting site offers multiple promotions at any given time. That said, you can look forward to more opportunities to earn extra cash after the welcome bonus.
All of the current promos are free bets that are tied to specific sports. You may find some of these deals restrictive if you don’t like one or more of the associated sports. However, the free bets at least offer multiple chances to earn back losses from losing wagers.
Does this sportsbook have a loyalty program?
888 Sport NJ does not offer a traditional VIP program. They do, however, “send exclusive promos that are tailored to you” through email. These deals provide an opportunity to keep racking up cash beyond the on-site promotions.
What can you bet on here?
This operation features one of the most impressive lineups of sports in the Garden State. 888 separates itself from the pack by offering not only common American favorites (e.g. football, basketball), but also more-obscure sports/leagues.
Examples of the latter include darts, La Liga (Mexican soccer league), lacrosse, softball, and women’s basketball. Below, you can see the general sporting categories and leagues covered at 888:
- Auto racing (Formula 1, Indy Car, & NASCAR)
- Baseball (MLB)
- Basketball (college, NBA, EuroLeague, & WNBA)
- Football (college & NFL)
- Golf (PGA)
- Hockey (NHL)
- Lacrosse (college)
- MMA (UFC)
- Soccer (English Premier League & many other leagues around the world)
- Tennis (ATP & WTA)
- Women’s softball
Most New Jersey residents won’t dive into the vast selection of soccer lines and other sports at 888. Nevertheless, players who like sports with an international appeal will appreciate this market variety.
Available bet types at 888 Sport
888 compares well to other NJ bookmakers when it comes to wager types. They feature all of the common options (e.g. moneyline, point spread), along with exotic prop bets and teasers.
Here’s a full list of their available bet types:
- Point spreads
- Prop bets
- Totals (a.k.a. over/under)
Software Quality and Navigation
The 888 software is adequate, but unfortunately, not too impressive. You should be able to place most types of wagers here without trouble.
However, we’re not enamored with the software’s look nor do we care for the multiple drop-down menus in the browser-based version.
Also, parlays are a bit difficult to figure out. The software doesn’t list parlays anywhere in the main betting menu. Instead, players must add multiple outcomes to their betting slips before this option becomes available.
888 does an excellent job of offering plenty of resources. The “Getting Started” section features various guides that cover everything from banking to placing wagers.
The website also has a blog. One of the things you can find here is a description of extensive betting previews for upcoming seasons and major events (e.g. Super Bowl or World Series).
How to use the browser-based software
You don’t have to download anything to make bets through a computer. Instead, you simply place wagers through your internet browser.
Of course, you’ll need to sign up before placing wagers. The registration process is a simple matter that involves filling in the requested details and agreeing to the site’s terms and conditions.
888 Sport NJ app
This bookmaker is compatible with Android and iOS devices. We found the mobile app to be a little cleaner and better looking than the browser-based version.
The mobile version features superior navigation in most areas, and thankfully, the annoying drop-down menus from the browser-based version are absent from the app.
How to get the app
The first step to getting the 888 sportsbook app involves visiting the homepage. Depending upon what device you’re using, you’ll select the link for downloading either the Android or iOS version.
The Android app is available for download directly from the site, but you’ll need to visit the App Store to obtain the iOS version.
You must be within New Jersey’s borders to make bets
You can browse 888 Sport NJ and sign up for an account from anywhere. However, you must be physically present in the Garden State to place wagers.
888 and other bookmakers in the market use geolocation software to determine if you’re within state borders. Therefore, you’ll want to ensure that both you and your smartphone are in New Jersey before attempting to place a bet.
888 Sport really excels in the banking department, compared to other NJ betting sites. They provide a variety of options for both deposits and withdrawals.
You can deposit at 888 Sport with the following methods:
- ACH (e-check)
- Cash at Cage
- Pay Near Me
- Visa and Mastercard
- Wire transfer
You can move money to and from your bank account with ACH. The catch, though, is that deposits can take 2-3 days to complete.
Cash at the Cage requires a visit to Caesars Atlantic City (888’s New Jersey partner) to deposit. You’ll obviously only want to consider this method if you’re in the Atlantic City area.
Pay Near Me involves visiting a 7-Eleven to place a deposit. You may consider this option most convenient if you already frequent 7-Eleven.
PayPal completes gambling deposits in a reasonable timeframe. However, this e-wallet isn’t quite as fast as credit cards.
Wire transfer offers instant funding once approved. The drawback, though, is that wire charges are upwards of $50.
You can use ACH, Cash at the Cage, and PayPal to withdraw money from 888 Sport.
ACH is cheap to use but also takes up to a week to deliver funds. Cash at the Cage is, again, only convenient if you’re already planning to visit Caesars casino.
PayPal is the best cashout method in terms of speed and usability. However, its fees can eat up 3% of the total transaction.
The only way to reach 888’s customer service department is through email. Unfortunately, this site does not have a quicker and more convenient live chat option.
Luckily, the website has a help section that covers a number of questions and issues. This extensive and well-organized area helps make up for the lack of live support.
Pros of betting at 888 Sport NJ
As mentioned before, 888 has excellent brand recognition. However, reputation is far from the only thing to like about this site.
Great sports variety
If market variety is important to you, then you’ll love what 888 has to offer. They do a great job of going beyond what the typical American likes by delivering a large variety of available sports.
Lots of Banking Options
This bookmaker is one of New Jersey’s best in the banking department. Nobody tops their wide selection of deposit and withdrawal methods.
Plenty of promotions
888 doesn’t stop rewarding you after the welcome bonus. Instead, they feature a steady stream of promotions on a consistent basis.
Cons of betting at this site
We’re largely high on 888 Sport NJ. However, they have some room for improvement in a few notable categories.
Some NJ online sportsbooks offer chat, email, and phone support. 888 lags behind in this regard, because their only contact option is email.
No loyalty program
One could argue that this site doesn’t need a VIP program given their frequent promotions. However, a loyalty plan is always an added bonus.
Software isn’t the greatest
We don’t hate 888 Sport’s software. On the other hand, we don’t see it as an attribute due to its semi-annoying navigation and subpar aesthetics.
Final Thoughts on 888 NJ Sportsbook
888 has become a global betting giant. They’ve brought many of the same elements that have made them a success in other markets to New Jersey.
This betting site stands out in multiple areas, including its sports variety, banking methods, and promotions. They do an especially impressive job of offering a wide variety of sports on which to place bets.
Of course, this bookmaker is far from perfect. They could certainly upgrade their support contacts, improve the software, and add a loyalty program.
When everything is considered, though, 888 Sport is one of the better options for Garden State gamblers. They’re not our absolute favorite sportsbook, but they are undoubtedly a contender for the top spot in New Jersey.
888 Poker NJ Review
888 Poker NJ is an online poker site running proprietary software owned by 888 Holdings.
This site is partnered with Caesars Entertainment and operates under the latter’s New Jersey permit (NJIGP 13-006).
888 NJ shares its player pool with the World Series of Poker NJ (http://www.wsop.com/nj-online-poker/). These sites participate in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Alliance, where they share players across Delaware, New Jersey, and Nevada.
Getting started at 888 Poker NJ
The first steps involved in playing at 888 include downloading an app (Android/iOS) or desktop software (PC/Mac), and registering for an account, which must be done before using either the mobile or desktop version.
The process of downloading the software/app and registering for an account is covered below.
888 Poker NJ app
The 888 Poker NJ app is available for both Android and iOS devices. The Android version can be downloaded on the 888 website, while the iOS version requires a visit to the App Store.
888 makes the process of downloading the app rather easy. However, we were confused when searching for the page where the mobile client can be obtained.
We initially googled “888 Poker NJ” and chose the first search result. The homepage included instructions for downloading and installing the desktop client.
We then googled “888 Poker NJ mobile,” and again, picked the first result. This second effort brought up the page we needed to get the app.
Although it was simple, most poker sites do not require such a refined search to find instructions for downloading the mobile client.
888 Poker features a basic setup for the desktop version, which should take no more than 10 minutes to download and install. You simply download the Installation Wizard, then run this to finish installing the free software package.
You must have a valid account and be logged in to use the desktop or mobile version. Information required to complete the registration process is fairly standard and includes:
- First name
- Last name
- Date of birth
- Security question
- Security answer
- Mobile number
- Home address
- Zip code
- Social security number
The request for your social security number can be unnerving, but this is required at every New Jersey online poker room for identification purposes, and of course, to ensure all players pay appropriate taxes on winnings.
Minimum age requirement and geo-location
You must be at least 21 years old to play at 888 Poker NJ, a fact that will require verification during the registration process.
888 Poker employs geo-location to ensure that all players are located within New Jersey’s borders before they will be permitted to play for real money.
Geo-location uses your mobile device’s or computer’s Wi-Fi signal to ensure that you’re within state boundaries.
New Jersey does not require you to be a full-time resident to play at 888 or any other poker site. However, you must be of age and within state lines before betting real money.
888 Poker NJ welcome bonus
This site offers a welcome-bonus package that includes both a no-deposit bonus and a deposit bonus. Here are the details on each offer, along with other promotions at 888.
888 Poker NJ no-deposit bonus
Once you have completed your account registration, you will receive an email containing instructions for claiming your $20 no-deposit bonus. The no-deposit offer breaks down as follows:
- $10 in free play at 888 Casino NJ
- 6 poker-tournament tickets ($1 apiece)
- $4 in bonus cash for 888 Poker and/or 888 Casino
Much of this bonus is wrapped up in casino play and low-value tournament tickets, which is unfortunate. However, this deal does at least provide $10 worth of free poker funds.
Your first deposit is eligible for a 100% match bonus worth up to $1,500, but you must deposit at least $10 to qualify for this offer.
The bonus is earned by collecting Bonus Points (BPs). $10 is released every time that you earn 100 BPs, which are given in both real-money poker and casino games.
888 features a bonus meter, which shows how you’re progressing in terms of releasing the bonus. The process of earning BPs is explained later in the VIP rewards section.
888 Poker offers a nice mix of promotions beyond the initial welcome bonus, including casino freerolls, poker freerolls, and reload bonuses.
Long-term offers are also available on the website, and players will receive other offers randomly via email.
The 888 VIP program revolves around two types of points — Bonus Points (BPs) and Status Points (SPs). SPs are used to determine your loyalty status, while BPs are exchanged for cash.
Earning BPs and SPs
You can collect BPs and SPs through poker tournaments, cash games, and casino games. The number of points you receive through each type of poker/gambling are as follows:
- Poker tournaments (SNGs included): 2 BPs + 2 SPs for every $1 in tournament rake
- Poker cash games: 2 BPs + 2 SPs for every $1 in contributed rake
- Casino games: 1 BP and 1 SP for every $10 in casino bets
Requirements and cashback for each loyalty status
The 888 Poker NJ loyalty program includes six tiers. Below, you can see how many points are required for each level, along with the corresponding cashback (based on BP value):
- Blue: complete registration / 5% cashback
- Iron: 50 SPs / 8% cashback
- Bronze: 200 SPs / 10% cashback
- Silver: 3,000 SPs / 15% cashback
- Gold: 6,000 SPs / 20% cashback
- Platinum: 20,000 SPs / 35% cashback
Clearly, this VIP program heavily rewards frequent players. Minimal increments of 3% to 5% are offered until the highest level, at which point the reward jumps by 15% more than the previous level.
While Blue, Iron, and Bronze players labor to collect between 5% and 10% cashback, Platinum players earn a whopping 35% cashback. Evidently, high rollers are more valuable to 888 Casino, as is to be expected. That said, 888’s loyalty plan is not very generous to low rollers.
Other rewards besides cashback
This program also offers exclusive freerolls that are open to certain tiers, including:
- Blue (and up): $50 freeroll every day
- Iron (and up): $500 freeroll every Friday (plus ev
- Silver/Gold/Platinum: $1,000 freeroll on the last Saturday of every month
As is usually the case, each tier also includes prizes from previous tiers.
888 Poker NJ games
New Jersey has made efforts to increase its online poker liquidity by joining the Multi-State Internet Gaming Alliance. This interstate compact has helped 888 and WSOP.com boost their shared player pool.
Nevertheless, this alliance hasn’t resulted in booming traffic, which is not surprising since the compact only includes New Jersey and two smaller states — Delaware and Nevada.
Furthermore, WSOP and 888 NJ only share players for certain cash-game stakes and tournaments. This factor hurts 888’s traffic when considering that it hosts the smaller of the two rooms.
888 NJ only accommodates a hundred cash-game players at peak hours, meaning that most of their action is confined to no-limit hold’em cash games and tournaments.
888 Poker NJ may share players with WSOP NJ, but its game selection pales in comparison.
Texas hold’em and Omaha are the only available variations in the cash-game section. WSOP, in contrast, also offers Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud cash games.
In truth, you won’t miss much with the absence of Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud because nothing outside of hold’em draws much traffic in New Jersey anyway.
Nevertheless, more variety is always welcome — even in limited supply.
NL hold’em draws almost all of the cash-game play at 888 NJ. Hold’em stakes ranging from $0.01/$0.2 and $0.25/$0.50 are especially populated, relative to the site’s overall traffic.
We didn’t see any NL hold’em tables above $1/$2 running during our review, while fixed-limit and pot-limit hold’em tables didn’t have any traffic at all.
The Omaha action at 888 is very disappointing. The only NL and PL games running during our review were at $0.25/$0.50 and $1/$2 limits.
Poker tournaments at 888 NJ
888 does a solid job of offering different types of tournaments, featuring freerolls, guaranteed prize pools, knockout events, turbos, and super-turbos.
This poker room also features a fair number of Omaha tourneys, which is surprising when looking at their limited cash-game diversity.
Unfortunately, 888 Poker NJ is plagued by weak tournament traffic, lowering their prize pools to between $100 and $1,000, in most cases.
Compare this situation to their partner, WSOP NJ, which offers a weekly $100,000-guaranteed tournament, along with several five-figure tourneys.
Other types of poker at 888 NJ
888 Poker NJ runs sit & go’s (SNGs), “Beginners” tables, and “Blast” tables. You’ll find a brief description of each category below.
You’ll be greeted by the Beginners’ section as soon as you launch the 888 Poker client. Beginners tables are meant to give new players a chance to compete against fellow amateurs.
They include low-stakes hold’em cash games, SNGs, and multi-table tournaments. This section also includes filters that you can use to set preferences for these tables.
Blast refers to special, four-player SNGs that are available at both WSOP and 888 NJ. These are lottery-style SNGs, where the prize pool is determined after everybody has bought in.
The prize pool can be worth up to 10,000x your buy-in. These tournaments are timed, and you’re forced to go all-in on every hand once the timer runs out.
888 offers hold’em and Omaha SNGs, with buy-ins ranging from $0.25 to $60. Most players stick to buy-ins between $1 and $5.
888 Poker NJ deposit methods
888 is competitive with other top New Jersey poker sites in terms of deposit methods, with the following available options:
- Bank transfer – Allows you to transfer money from your bank account to 888 quicker than an e-check. However, bank transfers are typically more expensive, too.
- Cash at the Cage – You can visit the Caesars Atlantic City cage and deposit money into your 888 account.
- E-checks (ACH) – An e-check is another way to send money directly from your bank to a poker site. ACH takes several days to complete but is slightly cheaper than a transfer.
- PayPal – This trusted e-wallet lets you send funds to 888 through a linked bank account. Deposits are completed fairly quickly, although the fees can be high.
- PayNearMe – Make a deposit via your local 7-Eleven convenience store. You might consider this method if you frequent 7-Elevens.
- Visa & Mastercard – These credit cards offer the fastest way to fund an online poker account. Unfortunately, they also reject poker deposits on occasion, despite the protections offered by NJ gambling regulations.
888 NJ doesn’t offer nearly as many withdrawal options, which means you’ll be limited to the following:
- Cash at the Cage – You can cash out 888 Poker funds from the Caesars Atlantic City cage. This option is only feasible if you live near Atlantic City.
- E-checks – ACH is a reliable withdrawal method, provided you’re willing to wait for up to a week.
- PayPal – This option is best for fast cashouts made over the internet. However, PayPal usually takes around 3% in fees.
The 888 Poker NJ support department can only be reached through email. Not only that, but you’ll likely wait 1-2 hours for an email response to your questions/issues.
The site also provides FAQs that answer many common questions. That’s lucky because looking at FAQs is a faster route than waiting on an email reply.
888 ranks somewhere in the middle of the New Jersey online poker market.
It does not have the traffic or game selection of its partner WSOP NJ, and sadly, it’s also short on withdrawal options when compared to the average site.
One advantage to 888 is their large welcome bonus, which offers up to $1,500. The site also has plenty of tournament types (Blast, turbos, super-turbos, etc), even if the traffic isn’t impressive.
In summary, 888 Poker NJ is a solid choice if you’re a low-stakes player who wants a large welcome bonus. However, you won’t appreciate this site if you’re looking for big tournaments and a wider selection of cash-game variations.
