Harrington Raceway Online Casino & Poker Site Review

Harrington Raceway online is a gaming site that’s owned by Harrington Raceway & Casino. Licensed by the Delaware Lottery, this internet casino is only available to Delaware residents.

888 Holdings powers Harrington Raceway’s online software and supplies many of the games, including slots, blackjack, and roulette.

Harrington Raceway welcome bonus

The Harrington Raceway welcome bonus includes both a $10 no-deposit bonus and a 100% match bonus worth up to $100.

For the sake of comparison, Dover Downs online features the exact same welcome package, and Delaware Park online has the same deposit bonus, but they offer 20 free spins in place of the no-deposit bonus.

No-deposit bonus

Harrington Raceway players receive a $10 no-deposit bonus after registering for an account. The registration process involves entering simple details, like one’s name, username, password, home address, email, and social security number.

Players need to claim this bonus from their account and use it within 30 days. Winnings from the no-deposit offer can be withdrawn once all terms and conditions have been satisfied.

The bonus is cleared by earning Status Points. Two (2) Status Points are required for every $1 in winnings before the funds can be cashed out.

Deposit bonus

First-time depositors are eligible for a 100% match bonus. A $20 minimum deposit is required to qualify for this offer.

The bonus must be cleared within 30 days of being awarded, at a rate of 2 Status Points per $1.

Daily promotions

Harrington Raceway offers a different promotion for every day of the week. The promos include cashback, deposit bonuses, free spins, and free play (a.k.a. vouchers).

Ally of the daily deals are subject to change, so we won’t detail them here. However, one exciting example is “Thursday Thrills,” which offers a 25% match deposit bonus worth up to $50.

Loyalty program at Harrington Raceway

This casino makes no mention of a loyalty program on their website. Given that they offer Status Points, though, they likely have the same program as Delaware Park.

The latter awards players both Status Points and Rewards Points at a 1:1 ratio when they play for real money. Status Points determine one’s level in the loyalty program, while Rewards Points can be redeemed for various perks.

Given the lack of information, we’re only making assumptions on the VIP plan  offered at this site.. However, since 888 Holdings powers all three Delaware online casinos, it’s a safe bet that all run the same loyalty program.

Who can play at Harrington Raceway online?

Those who live outside of Delaware can register for an account and even browse the software. However, one must be 21 years of age and physically present in Delaware to play for real money.

Harrington Raceway uses geo-location technology to ensure that players are within state boundaries. Their FAQ section covers solutions for dealing with any problems regarding geo-location.

Harrington Raceway casino software & app

Harrington Raceway features the same 888 software as the other two Delaware internet casinos.  Consequently, it has the same look and feel as Delaware Park and Dover Downs.

Players can access Harrington Raceway through either a browser-based client (PC/Mac) or a mobile app.

Browser-based client

The browser-based version (a.k.a. instant play) allows one to play Harrington Raceway’s games directly through their browser. It works on any updated version of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari.

Instant play has a major advantage over the app in terms of game selection. It features the full suite of Harrington Raceway games, including 60+ slots.

Harrington Raceway app

The Harrington Raceway mobile casino can be accessed through an Android or iOS device, requiring users to download the app to get started.

Android users get the app directly from HarringtonGamingOnline.com. The application is available through 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi connections.

Apple iOS users need to visit the App Store. They should search for “Harrington Raceway online casino” to avoid confusion with the Harrington Raceway & Casino land-based app.

Browser-based vs mobile version

The key difference between the instant-play and app-based clients is game selection. The former includes three times as many games as Harrington Raceway’s mobile casino, which has just 18 games.

Each version has its own distinct look as well. The PC/Mac client has a glossier appearance with more graphics and frills. The mobile version looks very basic due to its mostly black background.

Instant play offers superior navigation  compared to the app, where the screen shakes as one scrolls through games.

Both versions run games seamlessly, and we’re particularly impressed by the mobile client, which didn’t lag or disconnect as we played games.

Games at Harrington Raceway

888 Holdings, which runs the software, provides the majority of this casino’s games, but WMS supplies a fair number of slots as well.

The selection, 60+ browser-based games and 18 mobile games, is on track with the state’s other online casinos. However, this volume pales in comparison to New Jersey gaming sites, which may be something for Harrington  Raceway to consider as they make improvements.

Slots

Harrington Raceway may not have the world’s largest variety of slots, but their games are at least visually appealing and entertaining.

WMS’ Raging Rhino, for example, takes players on a colorful safari adventure. This 4×5 slot offers 4,096 ways to win, free spins, and wild multipliers.

888’s Millionaire Genie is an ancient-Arabic adventure filled with gems, magic, and snakes. Highlights of this game include a second-screen bonus and progressive jackpot.  Currently, the jackpot is worth over $185k.

Here are more notable games offered at Harrington Raceway:

  • Bruce Lee (WMS)
  • Elvis: The King Lives (WMS)
  • Irish Riches (888)
  • Montezuma (WMS)
  • Pirates Millions (888)
  • Raging Rhino (888)
  • Zeus (WMS)
  • Zeus III (WMS)

Tables games

The biggest downside to Harrington Raceway online is its limited table-game variety. Blackjack and roulette are the only available games in this category.

Blackjack features six decks, the dealer standing on all 17s, and 3-to-2 natural blackjack payouts, and players enjoy the ability to customize gameplay and features to their liking.

For example, gamblers can choose betting limits of $1 to $500, $5 to $500, and $10 to $3,000. They can also change the table color, number of hands dealt (1-5), and the voice of the announcer (male/female).

The roulette game offers an American wheel (38 numbers) along with customizable options of its own. These include the ability to change the table color, turn background music on/off, and turn turbo mode on/off.

Again, the volume of table games at Harrington Raceway is disappointing. However, the two available games offer plenty of features that enhance the blackjack and roulette experience.

Deposit options at Harrington Raceway online

Harrington Raceway offers four ways to fund an online casino account:

  • ACH
  • MasterCard
  • Neteller
  • Visa

ACH lets players send funds directly from their bank account to Harrington Raceway. However, the drawback is that such transactions can take several days to complete.

Neteller is a fairly quick way to make casino deposits. The downside, though, is that funding this e-wallet adds one more step to the deposit process.

Visa and MasterCard offer instant deposits. Unfortunately, both options will incur credit card cash advance fees and neither can be used as a withdrawal method at Harrington Raceway.

Withdrawal options at Harrington Raceway online

ACH and Neteller can be used to cash out from this gaming site. Players must upload additional identification before using either of these banking options.

ACH is easy to use for withdrawals. However, it can require up to eight business days just to deliver a casino payment.

Neteller is the fastest way to cash out from Harrington Raceway, requiring 2-3 days for processing. Players should watch out for the fees, though, which can take as much as 3% of the transactions.

Customer support

Email and phone are the only ways to contact this site’s customer service. Live chat, which is popular in the online gaming industry, is not available here.

Harrington Raceway online also features an FAQ section that covers common questions at this casino. Some of the topics include depositing/withdrawing, geo-location, getting started, login issues, promotions, and technical requirements.

Casino history overview

The racing track at Harrington Raceway was originally built for the Kent and Sussex County Fair in 1920. Harness races were regularly held during the fair, which became known as the Delaware State Fair in 1962.

Pari-mutuel betting wasn’t allowed at the track until 1945, when the state legalized the practice. The racecourse experienced burgeoning success with the addition of pari-mutuel wagering.

In 1967, the track’s name was changed from the Kent and Sussex Raceway to Harrington Raceway. This name change came amid $1 million worth of improvements to the grandstand and clubhouse.

The popularity of horse racing began to decline in the state in the 1970s. This downturn was partly due to New Jersey’s creation of Meadowlands and Atlantic City casinos which offered more local gambling competition for Harrington Raceway.

By the 1990s, as racetracks struggled to stay afloat financially, the state Legislature threw them a lifeline by approving slot machines at Harrington and other Delaware racetracks.

Gtech’s Midway Slots and Racebook opened at the facility in August 1996. In 2004, Harrington Raceway bought out Gtech and dropped the Midway name.

By November 2013, Harrington Raceway & Casino had opened a gaming site. This move came just over a year after the Legislature legalized online gambling in the state.

Today, the company offers over 1,800 slot machines, table games, live racing, simulcasting, and sports betting. It also features an online casino with over 60 games.

William Chasanov serves as the President of Harrington Raceway & Casino, while Patricia Key is the COO. Board members include Chasanov, Eugene Bayard, Anne T. Minner, John Short, and Howard Wallace.

Harrington Raceway Online Poker Review

Harrington Raceway & Casino  hosts an online poker site that’s exclusively available to residents and visitors of Delaware. The site runs on the 888 software platform and is licensed by the Delaware Lottery.

Harrington Raceway is a member of 888’s Multi-State Poker Network (MSPN), the network that links players from Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey to improve liquidity.

So far, Harrington Raceway has definitely benefited from the MSPN. Their internet poker room would be a ghost town without this alliance.

They offer a solid lineup of multi-table tournaments (MTTs), especially on the weekends,  and they have a decent signup bonus.

Getting started at Harrington Raceway poker

This online poker room offers software for PC and Mac computers. The download process is fairly self-explanatory, and it only takes a few minutes to complete.

You do not have to register for an account to view the lobby either. This means you can see available games and traffic before spending time on registration.

Minimum age to play

Delaware requires that you be 21 years or older to play real-money online poker. They also stipulate you must submit identification upon depositing and/or cashing out, for age verification purposes.

Geo-location

You must be physically present in Delaware before playing for real money, and Harrington Raceway uses geo-location technology to verify that you are within state boundaries.

Geo-location relies on Wi-Fi to pinpoint your location. Therefore, you should ensure that your PC/Mac has Wi-Fi turned on before attempting to play for real money.

Harrington Raceway poker signup bonus

Your first poker deposit at Harrington Raceway is eligible for a 100% match bonus up to $500. The minimum deposit to qualify for this offer is $10.

You earn the bonus by collecting Status Points (SPs). 2 SPs are awarded for every $1 paid in tournament or cash-game rake.

The bonus is released in $5 increments for the first $10, then in $10 chunks for the remainder of the balance.

A bonus meter at the top of your opened table(s) shows how many SPs are needed to unlock the next increment.

You have 60 days after your first deposit to collect the bonus. You will keep earned portions of the bonus after 60 days, while unearned increments will expire.

Loyalty program

Harrington Raceway makes no mention of a poker VIP program on their website. However, based on how they award SPs (a hallmark of the 888 DE network), it’s likely they do offer a loyalty plan.

SPs determine your status within the VIP program. However, no information explaining the benefits of moving up in the loyalty plan is available at any of the 888 DE network sites.

Rewards Points (RPs) are given at a 1:1 ratio alongside SPs. They can be exchanged for cash through your account section. Yet, no info is available on the exchange rate for RPs.

Online poker games and tournaments at Harrington Raceway

Like other Delaware poker sites, Harrington Raceway is plagued by low cash-game traffic. However, the MSPN alliance at least leads to some full tables.

The MTTs are a different story. Harrington Raceway players have access to five and six-figure prize pools on the 888 network.

Cash games

This poker site provides Texas hold’em, Omaha, and stud games. However, no-limit hold’em is the only variation that draws consistent traffic.

A large number of full tables can be found in stakes ranging from 1 or 2 cents to 25 or 50 cents. We also see limited action running from $0.50/$1 to $2.50/$5.

Although this site also offers Omaha and stud, the traffic is usually nonexistent with these games outside of peak hours.

MTTs

Harrington Raceway features a very respectable MTT lineup. Several five-figure prize pools are offered during the week, and a $100k event runs on Sundays.

This site also boasts a wide variety of MTTs, including deepstack, freeroll, knockout, rebuy, six-max, and turbo events.

SNGs

SNG buy-ins range from $0.25 to $200. However, the action doesn’t usually go beyond $10 SNGs, at least according to our observations.

Both hold’em and Omaha tables are available,  but Hold’em is the only variant that draws players on a consistent basis.

Blast SNGs

Blast Poker consists of four-person SNGs with a lottery element involved. A random lottery determines the prize pool at the start of every game.

Prize pools can be worth as much as 10,000x the buy-in. For example, $10,000 could be available in a $1 SNG.

Each tourney has a timer that varies based on the size of the prize pool. Once the timer runs out, all players are forced to go all in on every hand.

Harrington Raceway poker deposit methods

This poker site offers a just a few deposit options, including Visa, Mastercard, and ACH (e-check).

Visa and Mastercard are fast and easy ways to make deposits. The biggest problem is that banks sometimes reject Delaware online poker deposits — despite the game being perfectly legal in DE.

When making a deposit, ACH offers the same convenience and speed of credit cards. You simply need to supply your checking account details to fund your Harrington Raceway poker account.

Withdrawal options

ACH  is the only cashout method at this site.

An e-check lets you withdraw money from Harrington Raceway directly into your bank account. Unlike with ACH deposits, though, you need to wait several months for the funds to clear.

Customer support

The Harrington Raceway online team is available via email and phone. You can reach them 24/7 through both contact methods.

Live chat is not available here, nor at any other DE online poker sites. Given the convenience of live chat, it’s unfortunate that no one offers it.

Harrington Raceway also offers an FAQs section that covers their poker site. The FAQs discuss topics like accounts, banking, geo-location, identification, and logging in.

Final Verdict

This poker site compares favorably to its instate competitors, Delaware Park and Dover Downs. Harrington Raceway has a decent signup bonus, good MTT lineup, and solid low-stakes hold’em traffic.

The MTTs are definitely the highlight. The weekend lineup features several large tournaments, most notably the $100,000 Sunday event.

Low-stakes hold’em cash games are always running at this site. As long as you’re not looking to play for serious money, then you should appreciate the cash tables.

Of course, Harrington Raceway is plagued by the same problems as the rest of the 888 DE network. Sadly, they do not offer a mobile app or have any visible traffic in mid or high-stakes games.

There is not much they can do about the traffic until the MSPN grows in conjunction with more regulated poker states. The 888 network could, however, produce some mobile apps for Harrington Raceway and other DE sites.

As it stands, Harrington Raceway online poker is still a quality option if you can deal with the lack of an app and limited mid/high-stakes traffic.
