Through Unibet, the Kindred Group has forged a deal with Penn National Gaming to expand sports betting into Illinois.

With this development, it appears sports bettors in Illinois will be able to enjoy another exciting sportsbook.

The alliance will see Kindred seeking a sports betting license via Penn National’s Argosy Casino Alton for digital sports betting in the state. Furthermore, the new partnership grants market access for Ohio, obviously after legal impediments are clear, thanks to Penn’s Hollywood Casino.

Now the massive partnership has been signed, and the industry experts predict Kindred’s expansion plans will be limitless. It is likely to target the entire country as a potential market.

Further Details into the Deal

As far as the further details are concerned, not much has been released as of now. However, according to reports, the duration of the deals between Unibet and Penn Valley is a decade long.

Each deal (Penn’s Argosy Casino Alton and Penn’s Hollywood Casino), will also cover both online casinos and sports betting. Obviously, it is seeking official approval.

All of this followed Kindred’s Unibet contemplating to carve out their niche in the country’s market. Currently, Unibet is live in three states, with Indiana being its latest launch.

It is also present in Pennsylvania, where it entered last November, and in New Jersey, where it launched a year ago. With successful operations in these three states, the flourishing gaming entity has now adjusted its focus on Illinois and Ohio.

According to SVP of Kindred US Manuel Stan,

“Illinois is one of the largest states of the country, and it will be the next state that we are targeting to launch.”

Currently, there have been no updates regarding Unibet’s launch date in Illinois. Stan restricted himself on these words that it would happen “as soon as possible.”

Optimistic Results for Unibet in Other States

The online gambling company’s recent successes in Pennsylvania and New Jersey suggest why it is looking to expand to other states. Unibet had a great reception in both states.

Combined gross revenue for both states in the second quarter of 2020 grew by 131 percent from that of Q1. It clearly indicates the industry is booming, with a huge potential to grow further.

Meanwhile, sports betting has already gone live in Illinois. There has been a race among sportsbooks to vie for the leadership in a potential market. So, Unibet had a certain interest to open up in Illinois. The fact that the online gaming operator could also land into Ohio via Penn National is a strategic bonus.

Currently, analysts believe that Ohio is one of the leading states where sports betting will be legalized before the end of 2020. Inevitably, the state is the center of attraction among all the leading gaming operators.

However, Unibet does not seem to be contented with Illinois and Ohio. In fact, the online operator has far more ambitious plans to expand to lead the US gambling market.
