Early Odds for 2024 College Football National Championship Look Like 2023

Spread the Word:

The University of Michigan is a national champion in college football for the first time since 1997. For the one before that, you have to go all the way back to 1948.

In this age of repeat champions – Georgia won in 2021 and 2022 – Michigan is a once-in-a-generation winner. But before regulars at Michigan online sportsbooks jump off the Wolverines for a few years, next season the Maize and Blue should once again be in the mix.

BetUS.com has Michigan at +1000 to win the new and expanded College Football Playoff next season, which ranks then fifth in the country.

The top four on the list are Georgia (+425), Alabama (+600), Ohio State (+800), and Texas (+900).

Michigan running back Blake Corum, who flirted with entering the NFL Draft last year, said in his post-game interview that he is leaving Ann Arbor. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy still has to decide on his future. But with a late first-round projection if he does decide to leave college, the NFL is likely his next destination.

Of course, the biggest question mark for Michigan is the future of head coach Jim Harbaugh. It seems that every year we hear reports that he is going to leave Michigan and return to the NFL. Now that he has his national championship, he may actually be ready to do it.

Jim Harbaugh’s Next Team

Harbaugh actually missed six games this past season while serving two separate suspensions. His continued run-ins with the NCAA is another reason that him returning to the NFL makes so much sense.

Bovada.lv has a series of NFL coaching futures bets, and one of them is a wager on Harbaugh’s next team.

Los Angeles Chargers (-300)

New England Patriots (+375)

Las Vegas Raiders (+400)

Atlanta Falcons (+700)

Washington Commanders (+800)

Carolina Panthers (+1200)

If he doesn’t leave for the NFL, all bets will be void. But if he does leave for the NFL, the Los Angeles Chargers are the heavy favorite. He expressed interest in the Chargers last year, but they stuck with Brandon Staley for another season. Now that he is gone, the opportunity may finally be right.

As of right now, the New England Patriots head coaching position is still filled by Bill Belichick.

2024 Heisman Trophy Odds

Quinn Ewers (+750)

Carson Beck (+750)

Jalen Milroe (+750)

Dillon Gabriel (+1000)

Will Howard (+1500)

Nico Iamaleava (+1500)

Jackson Arnold (+1800)

Conner Weigman (+1800)

The 2024 season doesn’t kick off for more than eight months. But for college football bettors, it’s never too early to talk Heisman Trophy odds. There is a three-way tie at the top between Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, and Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Ewers nearly brought the Longhorns from behind to beat Washington in the CFP Semifinals. Milroe was fantastic all season, and he was the top underclassman this past year with 73 Heisman voting points. Beck was a second-team All-SEC selection this year, and went 13-1 as the Bulldogs starter.

Others in contention include Dillon Gabriel, who transferred from Oklahoma to Oregon, where he will take over for Bo Nix. Will Howard was the Kansas State starting quarterback last year, and he now takes that job at Ohio State. Nico Iamaleava was the backup in Tennessee this year until getting the start in the Citrus Bowl, where he was named the game’s MVP.
