BetUS sportsbook led Kansas online sports betting for nearly three decades before the state officially launched legal sports betting. This top KS site is licensed by the Curacao eGaming Authority to operate in Kansas.
BetUS offers competitive odds on every major sport, including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. All you need to do is visit the site and let this user-friendly platform lead you to what you’re looking for. The addition of sports betting news articles and expert opinions will help you make informed decisions when betting in Kansas.
One of the top features of BetUS is its loyalty program, allowing Kansas sports bettors to gain VIP status on this site. For every sportsbook bet placed, you will earn points. These points will rank you up through BetUS Loyalty Program where you receive real money prizes.
As a VIP member, you can also correspond with your personal account manager for quick updates regarding exclusive bonuses. You will also be given priority when you want to withdraw.
BetUS offers a 100% up to $2,500 sports welcome bonus. We haven’t seen any other Kansas sports betting applications that offers a better welcome bonus. Use code JOIN125 and make a minimum deposit of $100 to claim this bonus. The offer comes with a 10x rollover, and you must meet the bonus terms within 14 days.
BetUS allows eight deposit options, including Visa, Mastercard, wire transfer, and Bitcoin. However, Kansas players can only withdraw using Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin at this site. We want the operator to add more withdrawal methods.
Bovada is another leading Kansas sports betting mobile site that has grabbed mobile bettors’ attention since 2011 – the year of its launch. This Curacao-licensed site is specifically designed for mobile betting, though it is as good if you want to use it on a desktop.
Its top-notch mobile betting platform gives Kansas sports bettors access to their sportsbook, allowing them to bet anytime and anywhere.
You can directly access the mobile browser to find extensive sports betting markets. Everything that a Kansas bettor can desire is available in its All Sports (A-Z) section. Besides the most popular options like football, basketball, baseball, and hockey, you will find every significant sport, such as tennis, UFC/MMA, motorsports, and more.
Like every top sportsbook, Bovada boasts several top features. But nothing is as good as their prop builder tool for the NFL. Kansas City Chiefs fans will find exciting props on all kinds of NFL players.
Bovada offers a 75% up to $750 crypto sports welcome bonus. New Kansas bettors can grab this one-time offer by depositing using Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV Deposit, or USDT. Use bonus code BTCSWB750 and clear the wagering requirements (5x) to cash.
Like BetUS, Bovada allows eight deposit options. But the inclusion of MachPay makes Bovada one of the best online casinos in Kansas with e-wallet banking. All you need is to create a MatchPay account – an umbrella platform that includes popular e-wallets like PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle.
Regarding withdrawal methods, Bovada provides seven important options, including Bitcoin, bank wire, and MatchPay. The only thing we did not like about Bovada was a 15.9% credit card deposit fee. However, crypto deposits are free and have a lower minimum requirement and higher maximum withdrawal limits.

It depends on the site you choose. While many offshore operators are not reliable, we only review those sports betting applications with a great reputation. The three top Kansas sportsbooks we have reviewed above are secure and offer the best bonuses, excellent odds, and quick withdrawals.
Kansas sports betting is live, with six online sportsbooks operating in the state since Sept. 1, 2022. However, an official launch happened on Sept. 8, coinciding with the NFL season kickoff. There was a race between Kansas and Missouri to legalize the sports betting industry in their states to woo the Missouri-based Kansas City Chief. The Sunflower State won the race in April 2022, with the lawmakers approving the bill.
Kansas sports betting law came into effect in July 2022, less than two months after the governor signed the bill into law. In August 2022, the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission approved sports betting rules to meet September’s online sports betting launch deadline. However, Kansas poker sites and online casinos remain illegal and unregulated.
Here are some key Kansas sports betting details:
Kansas sports betting launched Sept. 1, 2022, with Governor Laura Kelly placing the first legal wager at Hollywood Casino in Kansas City. The Democratic governor placed a $15 bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl 57.
Overall, six online sportsbooks were approved initially at the four state-owned casinos. The approved sports betting mobile sites are Barstool, Caesars, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and PointsBet.
Although the ‘soft launch’ occurred on Sept. 1 at Hollywood Casino, the official launch was set for Sept. 8 – the day of the 2022 NFL season’s kickoff.
The historic launch date came less than four months after Kelly signed the bill to regulate sports betting – one of the quickest turn-around between legalization-to-launch in US sports betting.
According to the official announcement on August 18, four casinos in the state were authorized to offer online and retail sports betting at launch. Boot Hill Casino, Kansas Star Casino, For County Casino, and Hollywood Casino can have three mobile skins, meaning there could be 12 Kansas sports betting mobile sites in total.
Kansas became the third state in 2022 to legalize sports betting after Maine and Massachusetts. The development came in late April, hours after Missouri failed to bring legal sports betting to the finishing line.
Both Kansas and Missouri had been vying to outpace each other in sports betting legalization to woo the Missouri-based NFL team – Kansas City Chiefs.
In late April 2022, the Kansas Senate approved Senate Bill 84 by 21-13 after the House had passed it 73-49. As a result, the Kansas Legislature became the second in 2022 to send a sports wagering bill to its governor and the first to allow for a competitive market. Earlier, Maine lawmakers approved a tribal-led online sports betting bill, keeping out casinos from offering mobile wagering.
SB 84 allows the four state-owned casinos to have mobile and retail sports wagering. The casinos, established under the control of the Kansas Lottery, are authorized to create and operate sportsbooks or partner with up to three mobile skins each to launch mobile sports betting.
The Kansas Lottery and the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission will jointly oversee sports betting in the state.
Opponents of legal sports betting in Kansas, which has contributed to 65,000 problem gamblers, said the 10% state tax on the industry in annual revenue was not enough financial incentive to regulate the activity. According to initial estimates, legal sports wagering will likely generate up to $5 million in annual revenue.
During the last-minute legalization debate, a senator opposed to the bill asked, “Instead of becoming the 33rd state to legalize this (SB 84), why don’t we become the second state to legalize prostitution?”
However, Sen. Rob Olson, chairman of the Senate Federal and State Affairs Committee, said he was excited to pass sports betting in Kansas as it would bring additional tax revenue to the state.
“My constituents have pushed for this legalization for years, and now, the next time we have a significant sporting event in our state, Kansans will be able to bet on their hometown team.”
“Legalizing sports betting will bring more revenue to our state and grow our economy,” Kelly said. “This is another mechanism that casinos, restaurants, and other entertainment venues can utilize to attract Kansans to their establishments.”
In 2021, the Kansas Senate approved SB 84 to allow retail and mobile sports betting via the state’s four casinos. But the House failed to reach an agreement, delaying Kansas sports betting legislation for another year.
It is also worth mentioning that Kansas Native American tribes could also update their gaming compacts to include sports betting. Kansas tribes own six casinos in the state.
Kansas and Missouri revived attempts at legalized sports betting in 2022 to outpace each other. The Missouri-based Kansas City Chiefs were the major bone of contention.
Kansas lawmakers added a special fund to include 80% of sports betting revenue to lure the Kansas City Chiefs across state lines. Although the teams could include MLB’s Kansas City Royals or NBA or NHL teams, most Kansas sports betting supporters have sought to lure the Chiefs to the Legends, a shopping and entertainment district in Kansas City.
In March 2022, a report from Kevin Clark of the Ringer suggested the Chiefs could move to become the Kansas City, Kansas, Chiefs. It came after the NFL reporter spoke to Chiefs President Mark Donovan at the NFL Owners Meetings in Florida. When asked about potential new stadium options, Donovan said the team has considered options in the state of Kansas after its lease on Arrowhead Stadium expires in 2031.
Ben Fischer, another eminent sports journalist present at the meeting, said Donovan mentioned “a lot of things” when talking with reporters.
Currently, the Chiefs play home games at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
However, a month later, Anne Scharf sought to clear doubts regarding Chiefs’ future plans. Speaking on behalf of the Chiefs, she told the Missouri Senate committee that the Chiefs are not moving to Kansas. Furthermore, Scharf said the Chiefs would forfeit their mobile skins, as required under the bill if the NFL team relocates to another state.
According to Kansas sports betting law, the minimum age to bet on college and professional sports is 21.
The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission (KRGC) and the Kansas Lottery jointly oversee sports betting in the state. The Kansas Lottery will oversee day-to-day financial, legal, and operational functions according to the law. The KRGC will oversee regulations on sports betting advertisements.
Kansas has four federally recognized tribes, which can operate their own casino properties. The Kansas Native American tribes can also update their gaming compacts to offer sports betting through their six tribal casinos.
The Kansas Expanded Lottery Act of 2007 allowed the state’s lottery to establish four resort casinos in the state. It includes Boot Hill Casino and Resort, the nation’s first state-owned casino.
As per the gambling laws in Kansas, in January 2023, six Kansas sports betting applications are partnered with one of these four casinos.
While local Kansas online sportsbooks are live, they struggle to compete with offshore sports betting giants for market leadership due to lack of experience and regulatory controls.
Meanwhile, our top three Kansas sports betting sites lead the market with the best promotional offers. The following are some of the most popular promotions in Kansas sports betting.
Risk-free bets allow you to get a refund if you lose your first bet. For instance, BetOnline currently offers a $250 Risk-Free Bet when you wager on the NBA. BetUS features up to a $500 risk-free bet. If your first qualifying bet loses, the Kansas sportsbook will refund the amount of your wager in free-play.
Most leading Kansas sportsbooks will match your initial deposit up to a certain percentage. If that is 100 percent, your account balance will be doubled. For example, the BetUS sportsbook allows a 100% up to $2,500 sports welcome bonus. However, these deposit match bonuses are tied to wagering requirements. You have to bet your initial stake multiple times to release any bonus funds.
Many leading Kansas sites give an attractive bonus if you refer a friend to your sportsbook. This is the way they thank their existing customers. For instance, BetUS offers a 100% Refer a Friend Bonus of Up to $2,000. So all you need is to refer a friend and get up to 100% of their initial deposit in your account.
Odds boosts are a great way to get extra value from your Kansas online sportsbook. Leading operators regularly increase the regular odds to give their players a larger payout at the expense of the house edge. For example, you can get an odds boost on the Chiefs, taking your Kansas site’s odds down from -200 to +100.
BetOnline’s Odds Boosters offers the best odds on various sports betting markets daily.
Many Kansas sports bettors are frustrated when they place a parlay bet and lose it with just one leg. Luckily, parlay insurance protects you from such a ‘tragedy.’ For example, if you take a three-leg parlay, and if one of your legs loses, you will get a refund in the form of a bet credit.
Some Kansas sites will reward new players even if they don’t make an initial deposit. Usually, a no-deposit bonus is awarded when you sign-up with a site. Currently, none of our top three Kansas sites offer any no-deposit bonus.
Most US bettors prefer to make bets via smartphones, and Kansans are no exception. Mobile wagering allows you to access the top Kansas sportsbook sites regardless of where you’re or what you’re doing.
Our recommended Kansas sports betting sites, like Bovada and BetOnline, offer 100% mobile-friendly features. Whether you want to sign up, look for your favorite sport, place a bet, or pay out your winnings, our top KS sites have you covered. The best part is that you don’t have to download any software. Instead, you can use their mobile site directly by browsing on your iOS or Android phones.

Using an offshore sportsbook has obvious advantages over locally licensed Kansas sports betting applications. For example:
Kansas City Chiefs is the biggest craze in the Sunflower State. Founded in 1959 as the Dallas Texans, the Chiefs moved to Missouri in 1963. The Chiefs have won two Super Bowls, in 1969 and 2020.
Those looking for the best NFL betting site in Kansas should try Bovada. This top Kansas site offers the best odds on NFL betting and features a step-by-step guide for how to bet on NFL games.
XBet is one of the newer online sportsbooks in Kansas. This Curacao-licensed site was launched in 2013 – nearly a decade before local applications became available in the Sunflower State. Since local operators are a few months old, we must allow them a year or two before reviewing them.
For now, XBet is one of the best new online sportsbooks in Kansas, especially for live betting options. MyBookie, which was launched in 2014, is another leading Kansas site on our top 10 Kansas online sportsbook list.
Kansas legalized horse and greyhound racing with the Kansas Parimutuel Racing act. The state used to be home to three horse racing tracks; none has seen any action since 2008. However, you can bet on horse racing at various online sportsbooks.
Our three top Kansas sportsbooks also serve as full-scale online racebooks. While there’s no in-state action, Kansas horse racing fans can place bets on national and international horse racing events. BetUS provides competitive odds on Kentucky Derby and other Triple Crown races.
Betting on election outcomes is another exclusive feature you will only find at offshore sites. While none of the six local Kansas mobile sites can offer to bet on politics, our top three KS sites provide excellent odds on election betting.
Bovada is our top pick for those looking to bet on US politics. This site offers good odds on US politics specials. Whether you want to bet on ‘Will Joe Biden be impeached during his first term as President?’ or ‘Who will win the Presidential Election 2024?’ Bovada has you covered.
While BetUS offers competitive odds on politics, it is ideal for betting on global politics. It currently features odds on New Zealand, Poland, Scotland politics futures, and more.
All these online sports wagers are available across the top Kansas sports betting sites.
Moneyline is the simplest bet type, allowing you to pick which side will win. Once you select your team, you need to place a wager on that team and enjoy the action.
For most moneyline, one team will be the favorite, signified with a minus (-) mark, while one will be the underdog, represented with plus (+) mark. For example, if the Chiefs are a -150 betting favorite, that means you have to bet $150 to win $100. If their opponent is a +180 underdog. That means a $100 bet on the underdog would win you $180.
Parlay bet combines two or more wagers on a single ticket in order to create a larger payout. Obviously, the odds are long that all your wagers – or legs – hit, but there is always a chance of a handsome return in exchange for a small stake. A multi-leg parlay may range from two legs up to 12 legs. The more legs involved, the riskier and more rewarding it becomes.
Totals, or over/under, betting refers to the combined points/runs/goals scored in a match. You can bet that the combined score of the two teams will be over or under the listed total on your Kansas sportsbook.
For example, an NFL football game may have a total of 50 points. That means if the combined points for both teams’ score is 50.5, the over bet would payout. If the total combined point for both sides is 49.5, then the under would cash.
The point spread is a bet placed on the margin of victory in a game. It is also called handicap betting, where you will bet on a team to win a game by a certain amount of points. Your Kansas site will give the underdog a notional start to balance the odds.
For example, the Chiefs might be a -6.5 favorite in the game. In point spread betting, it means they must touchdown for you to payout. You could also bet on an underdog. For example, if the opponent team was a +6.5 point underdog and the Chiefs only won the game by a field goal, the +6.5 would win as they covered the spread.
A futures bet is placed on an event – a series, award, or election – whose outcome will unfold weeks, months, or years later. For example, if you think the Chiefs will win Super Bowl next year, you can find odds and wager accordingly.
Prop bets – short for proposition bets – are placed on smaller in-game events not directly linked to the game’s outcome. Player props, game props, and team props are the most common types of prop bets. For example, in a football game, you could wager on the props on how many touchdowns a quarterback throws. While prop bets are usually harder to hit, they can be more lucrative on your lucky day!
Live bets – or in-game betting – are wagered during an event that is underway. This bet type has become more popular over the past decade. Watching and placing a live bet is always exciting as you make informed decisions. It is different from pre-game betting, where you bet before the kickoff.
Remember that the live odds will change according to the latest in-game situation. For example, in a basketball game, the live odds will constantly change with every bucket scored.
Prohibited bets are those wager types not allowed for various reasons. For example, many states don’t allow to bet on in-state college betting. A universal example is betting on politics. No state can allow its legal sportsbooks to accept bets on US elections.
Luckily, one of the biggest advantages of joining offshore sites in Kansas is that they allow you to bet on all the exciting political events, including US presidential election 2024.
Always do your research before you join a sportsbook site. Read more reviews and collect more information across independent reviewing sites. For example, LetsGambleUSA offers detailed reviews of the leading Kansas sportsbooks. You can read those reviews before signing up. Another great way to complement your research is by reading customers’ reviews.
Next, check if the Kansas sports betting site is properly licensed by a recognized jurisdiction. While the Kansas Lottery is a local licensing authority, Panama Gambling Commission and Curacao eGaming Authority are globally recognized licensing authorities.
Promotions are one of the biggest reasons to prefer a Kansas online sportsbook. Therefore, it is a great idea to compare promotions and bonuses across the top Kansas sites. Besides adding free bonus money, promotions also reflect a site’s financial credibility.
Before joining a Kansas online sportsbook, make sure it is 100% mobile-friendly. A top KS site must be ideally optimized for mobile users of all kinds, including iOS and Android users.
Every bettor likes to have as many betting options as possible. So, always prefer the Kansas sportsbook, which includes a greater variety of online wagers. Moneyline, point spread, totals, props, and futures are some of the most popular bet types to look for.
We encourage you to join more than one Kansas sports betting site for comparison shopping. If you get better lines, it will be more lucrative for you with less risk involved. For example, if a Kansas sportsbook offers -120 odds on the Chiefs, and the other site offers -130 on the same game. In this example, you should join the Kansas site offering -120 as you will have to risk $120 to win $100, compared to the other site where you will have to bet $130 to win $100.
It is important for Kansas bettors to have convenient banking options at their sportsbooks. The more deposit and withdrawal options you have, the better. All the leading Kansas sports betting sites include a variety of banking options, ranging from traditional credit and debit cards to modern methods like e-wallets and cryptocurrencies.
Like any business, customer support is key to success. If you face any issues when betting in Kansas, your sportsbook must quickly respond and address your problem. So, look for a Kansas site that includes email, phone, and live chat.
Although Sporting Kansas City of the MLS is Kansas’s only professional franchise, the Kansans support the Missouri-based teams. Kansas City Royals of MLB and St. Louis Cardinals of MLB are one of the most popular betting choices among Kansans. However, the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs remain the top choice among Kansas bettors.
The top Kansas sportsbook operators have excellent betting lines for the teams mentioned above. So, Kansans looking to support out-of-state teams can enjoy betting on their favorite teams.
Kansas concluded December 2022 with a $181.9 million in overall sports betting handle, representing a 2.35% decline from November’s $186.3 million. The six Kansas sports betting applications and three retail sportsbooks generated nearly $10.3 million in gross gaming revenue. In addition, the state took in over $1 million in taxes, representing a 28.9% gain from November’s $795,784.
In October 2022, Kansas sportsbooks witnessed a total handle of $189.9. It represented an 18.3% increase from the $160.5 wagering in September, the launch month of Kansas sports betting.
Overall, Kansas finished the calendar year at $718.8 million in total handle during its four months of legal wagering, beginning September. The state generated over $2 million in sports betting taxes, with $1 million coming in December alone.
According to law, online and retail sports betting operators will be taxed at 10% – a moderate rate compared to the national average of 15%. Kansas sports betting was projected to bring in $1.8 million in 2023, $6 million in 2024, and reach $10 million in 2025. However, those projections were based on the 20% tax that was initially suggested. With the current 10% rate, we can cut these projected numbers in half.
However, 80% of Kansas sports betting tax money will be earmarked for a special fund for financing a professional sports facility to lure professional sports teams, especially Kansas City Chiefs.
The best Kansas betting sites provide various methods to deposit funds in your account and withdraw winnings.
