New Jersey’s Ocean Casino Inks Konami Deal for Casino Floor Technology
Ocean Casino Resort, one of the prominent New Jersey casinos in Atlantic City, is embarking on a significant technological upgrade by partnering with Japanese gaming developer Konami Gaming, Inc.
This move involves the implementation of Konami’s SYNKROS casino management system, which will streamline the customer experience and behind-the-scenes operations at the resort. The aim is to have the whole system integrated by the summer of 2024.
“We are looking forward to partnering with Konami to present both our guests and our team members with innovative, first-to-market technology meant to maximize efficiency and improve customer experiences,” said Bill Callahan, GM for Ocean Casino Resort, in a press release.
“Konami’s industry-leading technology and global gaming savvy are invaluable in the implementation of these new features to our casino floor.”
Partnership and Technology Implementation
The selection of Konami’s SYNKROS allows Ocean Casino Resort to leverage new technology, including the Konetic employee mobile application and the integrated SYNK31 Title 31 / Anti-Money Laundering (AML) system.
The Konetic app is designed to improve workflow efficiency for various casino employee tasks, such as jackpot hand pays, managing dispatching alerts, cash can processing, and monitoring progressive signs.
For guests, SYNKROS will provide new bonusing and funding options, enhancing the user experience with a focus on convenience and security. The full integration of SYNKROS at Ocean Casino Resort is expected to be completed by the summer of 2024.
Konami is more widely known for its video game development. But the Japanese corporation has also long had interests in gambling. That includes manufacturing well-known Konami slots, as well as being a technology supplier, such as in this deal with Ocean Casino Resort.
“As Ocean Casino Resort continues to achieve exceptional growth, the resort is investing in state-of-the-art gaming technology and innovative systems to enhance its operations and guest experience,” said Tom Soukup, SVP & chief systems product officer at Konami Gaming, Inc.
“Our team is incredibly driven toward Ocean’s ongoing customer service strength, growth success, and market differentiation.”
Impact on Ocean Casino Resort
This technological upgrade is part of Ocean Casino Resort’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its position in the competitive New Jersey casino market. In September 2023, it was one of the only casinos to show year-on-year growth.
Ocean Casino’s 1,900-room hotel tower is the tallest structure in Atlantic City and the fourth-highest in New Jersey.
The resort offers an expansive gaming floor, with more than 1,700 slot machines, 122 table games, several poker rooms, and one of the larger New Jersey retail sportsbooks, with its own in-house betting platform.
Ocean also operates among online casinos in New Jersey, which is a fast-growing market.
By investing in state-of-the-art gaming technology and systems for its land-based venue, the casino aims to make things smoother for both customers and staff. The adoption of Konami’s SYNKROS is anticipated to improve operational performance and customer service, keeping it up in the race with giant national U.S. operators in Atlantic City like Caesars and MGM Resorts International.
The latter this year debuted a $55 million new hotel tower at its Borgata casino and resort, which is the most popular out of the nine Atlantic City casinos.
Between them, the casinos account for collective revenues of around $250 million a month. Ocean Casino Resort usually brings around 15% of that monthly total, which is a decent return. It will be hoping that this new investment in its back-end operations can improve its market share going into 2024.
