NFL Slot Machines by Aristocrat, Launching 2023

Spread the Word:

The National Football League (NFL) is set to make its debut on casino floors with the introduction of NFL-themed slot machines from Aristocrat, a first of its kind deal for a national sports league.

It is result of a licensing agreement between the NFL and Aristocrat Gaming, who are one of the biggest physical casino slots developers in the world.

The slot machines, featuring NFL Super Bowl Jackpots and team-themed skins, are expected to be launched in time for the 2023 NFL season.

“Today, we are thrilled to debut the first look of the new NFL-licensed slot machines, which will provide an innovative entertainment experience for millions of NFL fans who enjoy the fun of casino gaming,” said Hector Fernandez, CEO of Aristocrat Gaming.

Changing the Game

The Aristocrat NFL slots will feature custom skins, meaning players can pick from six different top NFL teams, with more to be added in the future.

The NFL Super Bowl Jackpots game will also include licensed fan-favorite stadium anthems from each team during key moments in the game, and a $1 million progressive jackpot.

Other features inspired by elements of NFL gameplay, such as Overtime Cash, Super Bowl Link, NFL Kickoff, Winning Drive, and Rings of Victory, will be added to the machines throughout the remainder of the year and into 2024.

“We are changing the game with this first-of-its-kind slot machine, offering fans the ability to customize the experience by selecting their favorite team in any casino they choose to play,” Hernandez said.

It is not, however, the first licensed U.S. sports-themed slot game. The NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles take that title, working with operator Unibet on an Eagles Online Slot game in 2021.

Then, of course, there are the untold number of generic football slot games released over the years.

However, regardless of who went first, this is still a landmark move for the nation’s biggest sports league and its casinos.

Responsible Gaming and NFL’s Shift in Stance

In line with the launch of the NFL slot machines, Aristocrat Gaming will also be launching a responsible gaming marketing and advertising campaign.

This initiative is part of Aristocrat’s commitment to responsible gameplay and strong compliance, it said.

Commitments or no, the debut of an official NFL-themed slot machine marks a significant shift for the NFL, which had previously opposed legalized sports betting.

However, following the 2018 Supreme Court decision that allowed states to adopt sports wagering, the NFL has embraced gambling somewhat, partnering with the American Gaming Association on responsible gambling initiatives.

On the other hand, the league has also suspended 10 players in 2023 so far for gambling violations, including, most recently, Denver Broncos defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike.

Now, its highly sought-after license will appear on casino slot machines nationwide, designed and manufactured by Aristocrat.

“We have valued collaborating with Aristocrat to bring their vision and responsible gaming resources to fans during the 2023 NFL season and beyond,” said NFL SVP of Consumer Products Joe Ruggiero.

Aristocrat has been making casino games since 1953. Its founder and former long-term head, Len Goodman, recently celebrated his 100th birthday.
