Tiger Woods’ PopStroke Golf Las Vegas Coming in Swinging
Golf legend Tiger Woods is expanding his PopStroke golf entertainment venture into the heart of Las Vegas, with ground set to break on the building site later this month.
PopStroke is a similar business model to existing crazy golf operators Swingers or TopGolf. Instead of “crazy” options like windmills and clowns, the course is more of a miniature version of a proper professional golf course, including bunkers, greens and roughs.
As well as the golf, PopStroke venues feature food concessions, bars, and areas for party games like beer pong and cornhole.
The latest addition, PopStroke Las Vegas, will start building on August 16 and is set to open in early 2024. It will be situated in the Town Square development just off of the south end of the Las Vegas Strip.
Also last month, the operator announced the return of its PopStroke Tour Championship, a competitive mini golf putting tournament. It will be held at PopStroke’s newest venue in Scottsdale, Arizona, on November 11.
Golf Entertainment
PopStroke, coowned by Woods and his business partners, including legendary golf outlet Taylor Made, was founded in 2019. It aims to offer a blend of traditional golf and entertainment.
PopStroke combines technologically advanced putting courses with a family-friendly atmosphere, complete with dining and other amenities. The Las Vegas location hopes to be a standout, with state-of-the-art facilities that cater to avid golfers and those just looking for a fun outing.
The venture is a collaboration between Woods, his TGR Design team, and PopStroke Entertainment Group.
Together, they aim to make the golfing experience more accessible and enjoyable for a broader audience. The Las Vegas installation will feature two 18-hole putting courses designed by Woods’ TGR Design. These courses will incorporate synthetic turfs, as well as bunkers, roughs, and other obstacles.
This concept aims to attract a wider demographic, from seasoned golfers to families and young adults looking for a novel recreational activity. With its tech-driven approach, PopStroke allows players to electronically keep score via an app, order food and beverages, and even access their playing history.
“We are eager for golfers in these markets to witness what we’ve known all along: PopStroke provides a distinctive blend of golf and fun that sets it apart from all other facilities of this kind,” said president and CEO of TaylorMade, David Abeles.
The Las Vegas location will also feature a full-service restaurant and bar, offering a diverse menu to cater to various tastes.
Las Vegas: A Fighting Choice
Choosing Las Vegas as the next PopStroke location is strategic. The city is renowned for its entertainment offerings, and the addition of a unique golfing experience complements its diverse portfolio. Moreover, Las Vegas and its casinos attract millions of tourists annually, providing a vast potential customer base for the venture.
“PopStroke continues to use golf to bring families and friends together in a fun, welcoming environment,” said Tiger Woods himself in a press release.
“Some of my happiest memories are spending time with my pops on the golf course having putting contests, and I’m looking forward to others enjoying time with their kids at PopStroke.”
However – PopStroke will be in for some competition. Its biggest rival, Top Golf, opened its flagship venue at the MGM Grand in 2016, and upstart Swingers is planning to launch no less than five miniature golf courses inside the Mandalay Bay next year.
