Tulalip Resort Casino in Washington Reveals Expansion Plans
The Tulalip Resort Casino, operated by the Tulalip Tribes in Washington state, is embarking on a major expansion and renovation project to commemorate its 20th anniversary year.
Since its opening in 2003 with an initial investment of $78 million, the casino has become a popular venue in the Pacific Northwest region. It has won several local awards, and contributed significantly to the Tribe’s economic sovereignty.
This new phase of development, expected to complete by the end of 2025, will add 70,250 square feet to the existing 192,000-square-foot facility. It will also include a new addition to the list of Washington retail sportsbooks, with a refreshed sports betting area in collaboration with DraftKings.
“The expansion and renovation of Tulalip Resort Casino will set a new standard for quality and excellence among casino resort properties throughout the Pacific Northwest,” said Marci Fryberg, president/COO of Tulalip Gaming Organization.
“This project exemplifies our continued devotion to provide guests with all the comforts, amenities and services one expects in a premier destination resort.”
All You Want is Everything
The expansion will include various interior and exterior upgrades, including a planetarium-like domed ceiling above the casino’s Center Bar.
The facilities will be built to a high spec, reflecting the casino’s status as a designated AAA Four Diamond property and its inclusion in the Conde Nast Traveler Gold List.
“When all you want is everything, the substantial expansion and renovation will include several new interior and exterior upgrades. Anticipated completion is set for the end of 2025,” the tribe said in a release.
The Tulalip Casino was previously open before 2003, starting in 1992. However, it sees the relaunch as its real debut as a resort after a significant upgrade in 2003.
It also underwent a $15 million refurbishment in 2016. But that merely refreshed existing buildings’ interiors. This expansion will see some 70,000 feet added to the resort’s footprint.
Some 45 miles away from Seattle, the Tulalip Resort Casino has regularly been voted as one of the best Washington state casinos by various media outlets, including The Seattle Times.
The Tulalip Tribes also manage the Quil Ceda Creek Casino, with slots games and sports betting, and the Tulalip Bingo & Slots parlor. All three of its venues are within the same 20 mile corridor north of the city of Everett.
Smoke Free Gaming Floor to Remain
Currently, the Tulalip Resort Casino consists of a 12-story luxury hotel with 360 guest rooms and luxury suites, as well as 30,000 square feet of entertainment and event space and an expansive gaming floor. It even has a several giant Orca statues in its outdoor fountain, as viewing the famous whales off of the Pacific Northwest coast is a significant tourist attraction.
The gaming floor houses some 2,400 slot machines, more than 35 gaming tables, 12 poker tables, and a bingo and keno gaming room. There is also a DraftKings sports betting area, which is due to be completely revamped in the upcoming renovations.
On top of that, there’s a 14,000-square-foot spa, fitness center, pools, and a tech center, providing a comprehensive range of amenities for a luxury resort.
Tulalip Resort Casino is also, unlike most Washington casinos, entirely smoke-free on its gaming floor. The policy was implemented in November 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision, applicable to cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, and vapes, demonstrated the Tribe’s willingness to take a stance on what is a controversial issue.
