NASCAR Cup Series Pennzoil 400 Betting Preview

Spread the Word:

After two weeks of draft racing and three-wide photo finishes, the NASCAR Cup Series moves west to the tri-oval intermediate speedway in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is 1.5 miles long and has just 20 degrees of banking in the corners, compared to 28% last week in Atlanta and the 31% in Daytona. The flatter track leads to more technical racing, and hopefully for bettors, more predictable racing. There are fewer big pileups at a track like Las Vegas, and fewer favorites who get taken out of contention because of the mistakes of others.

Favorites to Win Pennzoil 400

Kyle Larson (+400)

William Byron (+900)

Kyle Busch (+900)

Ryan Blaney (+1000)

Ross Chastain (+1000)

Denny Hamlin (+1000)

Christopher Bell (+1000)

Joey Logano (+1100)

Tyler Reddick (+1200)

Martin Truex Jr. (+1400)

Brad Keselowski (+1400)

Four drivers in the field have multiple victories in Las Vegas, including Kyle Larson, the heavy +400 favorite at BetUS.com. He has twice won here, including last October in the Cup Series Playoffs. He also won here in 2021, and in both of those victories, he led for more than 100 laps.

At this race last March, Larson was the runner-up, and he was also the runner-up in March of 2022.

The winner at the Pennzoil 400 in 2023 was William Byron, who led for 176 laps. He was the winner of the Daytona 500 two weeks ago, dropping to 17th last week in Atlanta. Byron is now second in the Cup Series standings, and at Xbet.ag, he is the current betting favorite to win it all in November.

Byron is the second betting favorite to win this race, with four top 10 finishes here since 2021.

The other drivers that have multiple wins in Las Vegas are Joey Logano (+1100), Martin Truex Jr. (+1400), and Brad Keselowski (+1400). Logano’s three wins here came in 2019, 2020, and 2022. Last year at this race, Logano won the pole, but he was the first driver out after a crash on lap 184.

Truex has a pair of wins in Las Vegas, but he hasn’t won here since 2019. That was the last time he led for as many as 10 laps on this track. Keselowski has three wins in Las Vegas, but the last checkered flag he took here was 2018. He was the fourth place finisher on this track last October.

Best and Worst Bets for Non-Favorites

Alex Bowman is paying +2000 at Nevada online sportsbooks to win in Las Vegas, something he did at this race in 2022. He finished third here last year, and with that kind of recent success at this track, +2000 is excellent value. He also finished top-five in Las Vegas in 2020.

Bubba Wallace is also at +2000. But because of his solid results on tracks like Las Vegas, he presents good value. On non-drafting 1.5-mile tracks in 2023, Wallace was tied for the second-best average finish. He was fourth at this race in 2023.

Daniel Suarez was the winner in Atlanta last week, but he’s a driver you should avoid this week. In his last 10 starts in Las Vegas, he has one 10th place finish and five finishes of 20th or worse.
