Jackpot Season at Las Vegas Casinos with Megabucks Wins

Spread the Word:

Las Vegas has been living up to its reputation as a gambler’s paradise in recent weeks, with a series of jackpot wins lighting up the casino floors.

Last week, one player walked away with the third multimillion Megabucks jackpot of the year in the Silver State, taking home $12.1 million from a machine at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino. Megabucks slot machine developer International Game Technology confirmed handing out the win to the player this week, who chose to remain anonymous.

Also last week, veteran race driver and women’s NASCAR top speed record holder Christy Georges-Barnett hit a $1.185 million slot win at Caesars Palace. The clip of the 63-year-old hitting the big win and subsequently celebrating with her husband has racked up hundreds of thousands of views on social media.

These big wins extend a huge 2023 for jackpot slots winners at Nevada casino venues. In April, one player hit a $14 million win for the biggest jackpot ever at a Reno casino, and another player hit a $1.4 million jackpot at Harry Reid International Airport while on their way home from a Las Vegas vacation.

Big Win October

The most recent win occurred last Wednesday, when a lucky player hit the Megabucks jackpot, walking away with a whopping $12.1 million at Excalibur Hotel & Casino, operated by MGM Resorts.

The winning spin hit on a Megabucks Spitfire Multipliers Triple Red Hot 7s machine. This jackpot was the second-largest Megabucks win in Nevada this year, following a $14 million win at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno in April.

Adding to the list of big winners is race car driver Christy Georges-Barnett, who turned $25 into a cool $1.1 million at Caesars Palace.

Georges-Barnett, a veteran racer with more than 300 wins and 35 championships under her belt, was over the moon with her win. “It’s a million dollars, Sherman!” she exclaimed to her husband, Sherman Barnett, as the reality of the win sank in. The video of her reaction, shared by Caesars Palace, has since gone viral, capturing the hearts of many.

Not to be left out, over last weekend a Las Vegas local, Charmaine Maillet, hit a jackpot of more than $90k while playing Dual Action Bingo at Rampart Casino.

A Look Back: Biggest Slot Jackpots in History

Earlier this year, a guest at Reno’s Atlantis Casino Resort Spa turned a $10 bet into a massive $14 million, marking the biggest slot machine jackpot in Reno’s history.

Almost unbelievably, the jackpot-winning woman was very close to not being at the casino at all on that day. After the win, she told casino staff that she was supposed to have left Reno to go on a cruise the previous day – but after it got canceled, she decided to stay another night at the Atlantis. A very fortunate decision that turned out to be, to the tune of $14 million.

The biggest slots jackpot win in Nevada casinos history was a $33.97 million prize in 2003, also won at the Excalibur in Las Vegas and on a Megabucks machine.

Before this jackpot-stuffed 2023, Las Vegas casino visitors had been on a lean streak for jackpots. The last big win was in December 2021, when a Mexican tourist scooped a $15 million Megabucks prize – on Christmas Eve, no less.

In 2023, even visitors to Nevada retail sportsbooks haven’t been left out when it comes to big prizes. Circa Sports recently raised its biggest prize pool ever for its ongoing annual Circa Survivor NFL challenge, with some $9 million now on the line.

Fans of U.S. online casinos also saw a record first half of the year in jackpot slots winnings paid out by operator BetMGM.
