BetMGM Jackpots Hit $75M in First Half of 2023

Spread the Word:

BetMGM, one of the leading U.S. gambling operators, has announced that it has awarded nearly $75 million in progressive jackpots during the first half of 2023 through its online casino platforms.

This figure is on track to exceed the $104 million in jackpots awarded in 2022. It indicates a promising year for the operator and lucky slots players.

Those jackpots range from $10,000 all the way up to the biggest prize of the year so far, which was $2.8 million. The luckiest state with the most BetMGM jackpot winners in 2023 so far has been Michigan, accounting for $27.4 million of the total.

BetMGM’s jackpot slots include games by its online partner Entain, and others by Light & Wonder, NetEnt, and IGT.

“BetMGM is proud to award these big progressive jackpots to our players,” said Oliver Bartlett, director of online gaming at BetMGM.

A significant portion of the jackpot total, $30.4 million, was sourced from slot titles created by Entain, BetMGM’s venture partner.

The European operator recently was criticized by some major investors for not focusing enough on its 50% stake in BetMGM’s U.S. operations

Entain’s in-house online casino games, exclusive to BetMGM’s online casino, contributed to the impressive jackpot total delivered this year.

The online casino boasts moe than 1,500 games, and is one of the largest state-by-state exclusive jackpot networks in the country. This network includes moe than 20 popular games, such as MGM Grand Millions, Bison Fury, Mirage Mega Magma, and Loot’En Khamun.

In addition to Entain, other leading developers such as Light & Wonder, NetEnt, and IGT also played a significant role in delivering life-changing jackpots this year.

These suppliers accounted for the remaining $44.3 million of the jackpot total.

Geographically, Michigan saw the highest total of jackpot prize money distribution at $27.4 million, followed by New Jersey at $23.2 million and Pennsylvania at $18.8 million.

The top five jackpots won at BetMGM through June 2023 include a $2.8 million jackpot from MGM Grand Millions in New Jersey and a $1 million jackpot from Fjord of Riches in Pennsylvania.

The world record online slot win is some $27 million. However, given just half a dozen states have legalized online casino markets so far, progressive jackpots struggle to hit those high multimillion figures in the U.S. market.

Eclipsing Totals

BetMGM management was enthusiastic about continuing the opportunities to give out big wins to a few lucky players.

“Curating an engaging selection of jackpot titles is a key focus and our progressive jackpot pools offer fantastic options to all players. We look forward to eclipsing last year’s total and raising the standard of the overall online casino experience,” Bartlett said.

Big money jackpot wins haven’t been limited to BetMGM online players this year, as customers at BetMGM owners’ MGM International Resorts casinos have also hit big in 2023.

In a recent event, one fortunate visitor at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, won a cool $1.5 million jackpot from the Bonus Spin progressive on Spanish 21.

However, online jackpots won’t stand up to physical casino floor records until the U.S. sees wider online casino legalization and bigger progressive jackpot pools.

The biggest slots win in American history have mostly been provided by IGT’s Megabucks machines at Las Vegas casinos. Two record-breaking $33 million wins occurred in the early 2000s. The 2003 winner of a $33.97 million prize on a Megabucks slot at the Excalibur in Las Vegas is still the record holder today.

More recent big money slots prizes awarded at U.S. casinos include a $14 million jackpot at the Atlantis Casino in Reno in April this year, and a $15 million Megabucks win in Las Vegas on Christmas Eve 2021.
