Marriot and MGM Resorts Launching Rewards Deal
In a landmark move, Marriott International and MGM Resorts International have announced an exclusive, long-term rewards partnership. It is set to launch in October 2023.
The deal will see the creation of the “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy,” which combines the two reward hospitality operators’ rewards programs. Customers who sign up to the deal can visit Marriot hotels to earn points and tier markers with MGM Resorts properties, and vice versa.
This collaboration will encompass 17 of MGM’s resorts, representing more than 40,000 rooms across Las Vegas and other cities in the U.S. That includes some of MGM’s famous Strip casino resorts, such as the Cosmopolitan (pictured) and the MGM Grand.
This new partnership marks a quick announcement from MGM. It and World of Hyatt Hotels announced last week the end of their 10-year shared rewards program.
“This historic, long-term agreement brings together two of the most trusted and iconic brands in hospitality and entertainment,” said Bill Hornbuckle, president and CEO of MGM Resorts, said in a press release.

Trusted and Iconic Brands
The partnership is not just a win for the two companies, but also for their combined 220 million loyalty program members.
More than 180 million members of Marriott Bonvoy and over 40 million members of MGM Rewards can look forward to reciprocal loyalty benefits.
More details about the collaboration and the benefits it will offer are expected to be revealed closer to the launch date.
However, we do know the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy will include several renowned properties.
Four of the 17 MGM resorts that will join the collection will also be affiliated with existing Marriott brands, which they call “collections.”
These are reserved for the highest-tier destination resorts Marriot offers, such as the Cosmopolitan, which last week was rated the third–best hotel in Las Vegas by Travel + Tourism magazine.
The Bellagio Resort & Casino will join The Luxury Collection, ARIA Resort & Casino will join the Autograph Collection, and Park MGM will become part of the Tribute Portfolio.
In addition to these, eight MGM resorts in Las Vegas will join the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy. That includes the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, NoMad Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay, and Luxor.
Five other MGM properties in the United States will also join the collection, including Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey, MGM Grand in Detroit, Michigan, and MGM National Harbor in Maryland.
“We’re thrilled to now scale the relationship and offer Marriott Bonvoy members greater distribution access to our award-winning resorts – as well as exclusive event and entertainment opportunities – in Las Vegas and across the U.S,” said Hornbuckle.
Looking Ahead
The partnership between Marriott and MGM will debut in 2023. It expands the program outside of Las Vegas, a first for a casino-hotel rewards partnership, with MGM’s national casino venues set to be involved.
It also marks a significant upgrade in market reach over MGM’s previous hotel rewards partner, Hyatt.
Hyatt, meanwhile, is said to be looking to partner with the soon-to-be-upgraded Rio and its owner’s Dreamscape Companies Inc. The hotel chain is already committed to construct a 2,000-room hotel on the Rio site, so a wider partnership would make sense.
