Resorts Casino opened its doors in 2015, two years after New Jersey updated its gambling laws to legalize online casinos. Despite their delayed start, Resorts, with back-end support from NYX and Sportech, is doing their best to catch up.

The site is part of Resorts Digital, the online wing of the brick ‘n’ mortar Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. Resorts Digital has been performing well in the newly-regulated NJ market and enjoys partnerships with other most trusted online casinos in New Jersey like Mohegan Sun Casino and PokerStars NJ Casino.

Resorts Online casino welcome bonus

The best online casinos for real money offer an initial deposit match bonus, and Resorts is no different. You can get up to $1,000 matched 100% when you sign up, one of the largest bonus promotions currently running in New Jersey.

While the deposit limit is fairly standard, the wagering requirements of the welcome bonus are pretty restrictive. Play-through amounts differ from game to game, which is unusual for a NJ casino. For example, the wagering requirement on slots is 30x the casino bonus amount,  but the amount for roulette, video poker and other table games is 150x.

Who can play at Resorts online casino?

You can play at Resorts Casino if you over the minimum gambling age of 21 and based within the State of New Jersey. You don’t have to register an account in NJ, however, and there’s nothing to stop players driving across state lines into NJ to play for real money.

Resorts uses GeoComply software for the best geo-location service. As soon as you load a real money game, the GeoComply plugin will automatically download. Mobile users can also play if they are in New Jersey. Make sure your Location Services are switched on before you sign in and begin to play.

Resorts browser-based casino software

Resorts casino operates on an easy instant-play software platform. It is powered by NYX Digital Gaming and can be accessed by logging in through your web browser.

We must admit that Resorts Casino’s no download client isn’t the prettiest we have seen. Certainly, the website could do with a redesign.

Despite the tired look, the lobby is easy to navigate and there are plenty of filters. You can sort games by ‘Top Rated’ or alphabetically. And with so many games available, the game search box is really useful.

Resorts Casino smartphone application

You can use your Apple or Android device to play more than 200 slots and table games at Resorts Casino. The iOS app is available to download from iTunes/App Store, but you’ll have to download an Android app directly from the Resorts site. We found the functionality across both devices to be adequate, but not on par with the best real money casino apps.

Keep in mind, you will find it necessary to adjust your phone settings to enable geolocation before you start playing. There have been instances of Resorts Casino incorrectly determining  that NJ players are outside of state borders. However, enabling your WiFi or GPS usually fixes the issue.

Games at Resorts online casino

There are over 470 table games and slots at Resorts. Like all of the safest online casinos, the top titles are provided by licensed developers like NetEnt and IGT and use RNGs to ensure the games are fair and legit.

Online slots

There are over 300 video slots to play for free or real money at Resorts Casino. As the casino platform is provided by NYX, you will find a lot of slots from subsidiary NextGen. But also look out for dozens of slots from IGT, Scientific Games, and Scandinavian giant, NetEnt.

Highlights include Raging Rhino and Bruce Lee from WMS/Scientific Games, Blood Suckers II and Jimi Hendrix from NetEnt, andCrown of Egypt and Da Vinci Diamonds from IGT. There are also several exclusive slots from NextGen like Foxin’ Wins and Foxin’ Wins Football Fever.

Resorts Casino makes a big point of promoting its MegaJackpots slots. There are two IGT progressives — Cleopatra MegaJackpots and Siberian Storm MegaJackpots — which are linked across all participating NJ online casinos. The jackpots in each game seed at a cool $500,000.

Online Video Poker

Resorts Casino has an impressive selection of video poker games compared to other sites in New Jersey we’ve looked at in our online casino reviews.

There are 14 variants available, including familiar IGT games like Bonus Poker and Triple Play Draw Poker Multi-Hand. The latter gives you the opportunity to play five hands simultaneously.

Interestingly, there are three video poker games here that you won’t find at all NJ sites. Jester Poker from Spin Games is the pick of the bunch and features one “jester” in the deck which operates like a wild joker.

Online Blackjack

Resorts players can get their fill of blackjack for demo play or real money. All blackjack games require an active Flash Player, so make sure it is enabled before you play.

As well as regular blackjack, you can play NetEnt’s Atlantic City Blackjack in Multi-Hand and Single Hand variants. The Micro Limit tables are particularly welcome if you have a small bankroll.

Online Roulette

If you’re a fan of Devil’s Wheel, you will enjoy the roulette selection on the Resorts site. American Roulette, French Roulette, and a new European Roulette variant are available, but our  favorite is Double Bonus Spin Roulette from IGT.

Double Bonus Spin Roulette utilizes a special wheel with two sets of numbers around the outside. This gives you two chances to win on each bet. Also look out for the super-sized yellow bonus pockets where you can multiply your stake by up to 1200x.

Other Games

Resorts Casino has a full live dealer lobby which operates well on desktop  and smartphone. You can play blackjack, 3-Card Poker, baccarat, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em from 11am until 3am.

For those excited to join their fellow gamblers at Resorts Casino in Atlantic City, but unable to drive there, Live Roulette at Resorts uses a table that’s been set up with OCR (Optical Character Recognition). With a click you can place bets on the same table as players in AC.

Other than baccarat, Let It Ride, and Three Card Poker, there is little in the way of alternative games at Resorts. You won’t find any instant win games and no scratchers. If the online casino wants to compete with its bigger rivals, they might want to consider updating their lobby.

Resorts VIP Program and Cashback

You can join Resorts Rewards and earn points every time you play for real money. The best Rewards Points rates are for slots players (1 point for every $2 wagered), while roulette earns you only 1 point for every $4 wagered. Other table games and video poker award just 1 point for $8 wagered.

There are five standard tiers in the Resorts Rewards loyalty program. Only the highest Diamond tier gives you full access to discounts at Resorts Atlantic City.

In terms of cashback, the entry-level Bronze tier pays $1 for 2000 points. But move to Silver level and your rate is $1 for 1,250 points. The redemption rate improves as you move up the tiers. Earn 20,000 points a month and you will attain Diamond status., at which point you will get $1 cashback for every 222 points earned.

For bigger players, Echelon Rewards goes even further. You can get a cashback rate of anywhere between $1/200pts at the initial Echelon level up to $1/67pts for Echelon Black. This is the highest, invite-only tier at Resorts online, and is a truly valuable reward for  big slots players.

Deposit Options at Resorts Online

Resorts casino accepts a wide range of deposit methods. You can make fee-free card deposits via VISA or MasterCard, but acceptance rates can be low. This is an issue with even the best credit card casinos in the USA, as federal laws on online payments to gambling sites have yet to catch up with new gambling laws.

Additionally, although many Visa card casinos market themselves as “fee-free,” it’s important to remember that this does not preclude your credit card company charging cash advance fees.

We recommend the ResortsCard option as a viable alternative.ResortsCard is a prepaid card for casino customers that can be funded via a range of NJ bank and credit cards. ResortsCard has great acceptance rates and is free to use. Alternatively, Resorts lets you deposit using VIP Preferred/ACH/e-Check. This method lets you transfer cash directly from your online bank account.

As you can see, unfortunately, cryptocurrencies aren’t supported, but you can find the best crypto casinos here.

Withdrawal Options at Resorts

Resorts online casino has a wide range of withdrawal methods compared to other NJ casino sites. If you live near Atlantic City, you can cash out funds directly from the Cage. Cashouts are available 24/7 but you will need to provide a driver’s license or government-issued ID and proof of deposit to complete the transaction.

All other withdrawal options are online. VIP Preferred is Resorts’ new e-Check/ACH partner. Cashouts are available but processing times can be long at 3-5 business days. To put things into perspective, the fastest payout casinos typically process and send withdrawals within 24 hours.

Alternative cashout methods include your prepaid ResortsCard or PayPal can be used for withdrawals, but with a minimum withdrawal amount of $100 may be restrictive. If you are a NETELLER customer, you may also be left disappointed as this option isn’t available. Cryptocurrency withdrawals are unavailable, too.

Customer Support at Resorts Casino

You can enjoy 24-hour customer support at Resorts, a much more comprehensive service than you will find at other NJ online casinos.

Email, toll free phone, and live chat are all available. While email support claims to be 24 hours, we did find that some queries took longer than a few hours to obtain a response.

Phone: 1-844-990-4263 (toll free)
Live chat: 24/7

Resorts Casino History Overview

Resorts Casino Hotel was slow in joining Atlantic City’s boardwalk empire. The land-based site only opened its doors in 1978, and Resorts has been equally slow to engage in the regulated NJ online market.

They only launched its online casino in 2015 under license NJIGP 15-002, but Mohegan Sun Casino appeared soon after that, under the same license. However, all US online casinos started somewhere, and Resorts is trying its hardest to move forward in the competitive market.
